HVX listed in Finland at a price of €7390

Nice one, about the frame rates (if accurate!).
Hey Mikko, do you pay 22% sales tax (VAT/GST) in Suomi? Ouch!

Edit: hang on, those frame rates can't be accurate, bummer.

Edit/Edit: darn, that cart system they use can't be REAL TIME, I just added 91000 units of the HVX200 and it goes through just fine, mind you it's at 551,221,311.48 €

Yeah, but the Finns are beating everyone in Olympic Hockey, so who cares ? Pay your taxes and be warmed with Finnish victory.

Believe me, in Canada they make you pay like a stubborn donkey in winter (isn't that a Finnish saying?)

I'm still contemplating a smuggling run for HVX's to New York. I've almost got it worked out. I just need the donkey.

Cheers.

Predictions :

You will win Gold in hockey. Unless Wayne Gretzky straps on his skates once more.

Conan O'brien will start an illicit affair with your red headed
seductress President, Tarja, that will cause an international incident.

And the HVX will take as long to get to Finland as Canada, although we will pay for ours :)

And smilies will return when Jarred gets a call from Mr. Hudson. Untraceable, if you know what I mean.

Cheers.

I gotta say that 6050€ without taxes (gotta be registered for VAT!) isn't that bad. In germany it's something like 5900€ + taxes, but they got lower VAT (17%).

And yeah, Markku Uusipaavalniemi is kicking some serious ass in Olympic Curling!! Gold medals here we come :) I wanna hear a foreign sports commentator try to say his name :D

Well, actually I am going to go thorough customs on the way back from NYC and pay that 22% VAT on Merlin, 302 etc. Why? Then I have no worries about getting caught with tax fraud, and paying the VAT does not cost me anyhing in the end, as it is just passed thru in the company billings to the next fella...

Horay for a sideline production company, and fair income from non-video business... Makes a hobby a lot cheaper.

quote from a skate forum I'm on regarding curling:

So, it's a bit icy out, and there's 15 feet of snow between me and the nearest strip joint. I wonder what I can do this afternoon. All I have is this brush, and a large rock...

I suppose I could go inside and eat five-month-old dried fish.

Or perhaps I could go and find out what happens if I rest my testicles on the lake ice for three hours...

Perhaps if I took this brush and taped it to my head, I could pretend to be that Martian out of the old hanna-barbera cartoons.

Or I could pick this rock up and drop it onto the end of my penis repeatedly for fifteen minutes.

Wait! I have it! I'll get this rock and push it along the ice, then run around in front of it and clean the ice - yeah, it looks like it needs a good sweeping. That's what I'll do.

BTW, I'm probabbly going to get mine in the UK and pay the VAT unless I can get out to expandore this spring time.

globalmediapro is another option but he's not got prices up yet. Anyone got experience of this guy?

In the year two thousaaaaaaand! :)

By the way I saw Jay Leno yesterday and he had one of his part-time comedian presenters go to the CES in Las Vegas and at one time the guy goes to a panasonic booth and there's the HVX! and some Panasonic reps and he says : This is a camera to make movies right? and the Panasonic reps go: Yeah! I dunno this mere coincidence to see this on Jay Leno was really funny for me...

Heya,

the HVX sales for 5258€ in Germany, without tax, which is 16% (it's a VAT and does not to count for professional users). www.fideocam.de. They're an official Panasonic dealer, from what I know. WHOA! Don't look on their website, it's TERRIBLE. But they've been in business for many years, I've never bought from them though. The Canon XL-H1 goes for 7298€. There are a lot of interesting ads in the Feb issue of the "Film & TV Kameramann"-issue.

So, 5258€ sounds pretty acceptable to me and I will certainly not bother buying one in the US and smuggle it to the EU.

Netherlands they mention 24P but I think its wrong:
AG-HVX200 € 5.995,00
4GB memorycards € 575,00

ex 19% VAT (BTW)
