indie snap mattebox detail and photos…..

Due to incorrect customs forms, some parts were turned around and sent back. :(

I've been set back a couple weeks but means a bigger batch ready to go when I get missing parts.

will update when good to go....

Well it looks like Interpol has released my parts and according to the tracking, I should have in a few days [Finally!]

Slimothy will have a box to review early next week...

Will post a buy link soon [hopefully today] I will include pictures of production model in announcement.

dakotapod,

Please remember that when you send your products outside the US (in particular to europe) you should fill out a customs declaration form and include the invoice with the form or inside the package. Failure to do so could result in your costumers having to pay an additional (and considerable) taxation fee in order to receive your products. Just a good advice. I just got nailed for an additional 30 bucks for some other stuff I just bought off the net (plus 25% VAT as we have here).

dakotapod, any chance you'll make one for a .7 Century wide angle? This Matteblox thing ain't cutting it. :/

A wide angle lens is just not possible on a low end unit like this, sorry. I think Century makes a box to work with the wide angle or a Chrosziel clamp-on style would be the way to go.

1. What is the current status on the production and availability of these?

2. As I understand your description, this box (or the adapter for the box) screws into the filter threads on the end of the lens. If this is the case, does it have threads to recieve a screw in filter (which does not look like the case from your photo) or can you just put a screw in filter, like a UV protector and then screw the adapter into the threads of the filter (assuming the filter has threads on the outside of the ring to screw another filter to it)?

Or to put it more simply, can you continue to use screw in filters with this unit?

If so, I'd also be in the market for one of these if they get produced.

Thanks.

No, uv or any other screw on filters would need to be removed when using box

If uv filter had front threads, then yes

I don't really understand what a matte box is used for. Can't the DVX take 72 mm filters? Is there something wrong with them? What will a matte box do to my video to make it look more professional. I think products like this and 35 adapter being produced are very cool. It shows how resourceful film makers can be. Thanks

A matte box is used to block light from hittin' the lens and holds filters.

Yes, the dvx can take a 72mm threaded filter on the lens, but you can't stack em or you'll get vignetting, so with mattebox you can use 2 - 3 filters.

Is there any chance you can still use a 72mm filter with this system? And not that it's really my business but how come the price increase, weren't they 189 a bit ago? I just looked and noticed it's up at 249 now, any specific reason or just decided it was worth more? :)

Cephalectomy I believe there is a DVXuser discount. If you click on the banner ad that cycles through at the top of the forum page you will see the DVXuser px. If you go to the web site directly you see the public price. You can click on the DVXUSER logo repeatedly until the IndieSnap banner appears.
