Im trying to look up and article or fact that i once heard a while ago stating that if you awake for 48 hours ( i think that was the amount of time?) you qualify to be clinicaly insane ( on a minor basis i think). I cant remember if it was an article i read were someone commited a crime and got off on this "fact"?
Well my question is, has anyone ever heard of this? the no sleep thing.
Or if i have my facts all wrong could someone school me on it really quick?
Thanks!

I dont know for sure, but I'd think it would be longer than that. My kid has kept me awake longer with a fever and ear infection. Plus, doesnt the military do the whole sleep deprivation training condition type thing?

lol no im not going to kill anyone...............yeah im not.

Yeah i figured the 48hour thing wasnt correct but i cant remember what was the amount of time.

Just wanted to know out of general knowledge. So post up if anyone knows anything. :)

I was up for 76 hours once.

John, that explains loads. ha! Hey, Happy B-day by the way! I turn 35 in May and it nauseates me.

Actually, a little off the beaten path but...I once took a psychology class and learned about a study that was once conducted that took a control group of people and put them in a room with as little stimuli as possible. It was a room with no light, no sound, no tactile things. They would get food and drink, enough to sustain them. The study was initiated to determine how long the human mind can go with little or no stimulation. Out of this entire group, the longest anyone could stand being deprived of any type of sensory and intellectual stimulation was 72 hours. And the kicker is several of them literally went nuts and they had to shut the study down.

Interesting, I thought.

i always heard that 72 hours was clinical insanity. i read in uncle john's bathroom reader once that you can only live for about a week without sleep, and some family in germany or something claimed that there daughter hadn't slept for a year. so some scientists asked if they could do some sleep deprivation tests on her, the parents said "sure," and around the third day of no sleep for the girl she died. and the scientist said, "looks like you guys were wrong."

Mike Patton conducted some sleep deprivation experiment while on tour with Faith No More, and then he recorded "Adult Themes For Voice". Just listen to that album, or anything else by him, and tell me a certain amount of sleep deprivation doesn't cause clinical insanity. :D I love that guy though.

when it comes to sleep deprivation I am a total wuss. I have done pretty close to 48 hours with no sleep, but I just couldn't stay up any longer...I don't know if this is a good or bad thing? I guess if I was in some crazy life or death situation things could be different, but I can't will myself to stay awake very long...
