hi gotta do a rig tomorrow with a venice.

-is the emount built in? (i might have to use my glass to save mass)

-what holes in the bottom of the head?

-head takes power from the cable?

-ND?

1) Yes, the e-mount is underneath the PL mount. I do not know if it is "active" or not. It seems like I remember reading that when it was first released that it was non-functional, electronically speaking.

2) A mix of 1/4-20 and 3/8-16

3) DC IN is 4-pin XLR 12V/24V

4) Yes. Built-in ND, 8 stops in 1-stop increments.

thanks for this.

on note is that it seems one do not need batteries on the 'head'

Nice system.

Overall I was not too happy with my contribution (rigging snorricam) as the 'head' with 19mm rods, a cage handle and wide cinelens was not 'light'

If we had got that cr_ap off and used my nikkor 18 via the sony adapter all would have been good.

Its funny we have a forum with arguments acoubt canon v sony.. but to me the real challenge of this job is communicating through the shoot. the tech is 20% of it In this case my advice about losing mass was just not heeded and that didnt leave me happy.

Agreed. I think it's time for forums a lot less heavy on the tech / sensor side and much more about client interaction, communication with directors / producers, gaffers, etc scheduling, set design, budgets, safety, creative decisions... I'm sure there is long list other than which camera gives an extra .5 stop in the highlights.

Had a producer, many, many years ago say, “It’s amazing, we’re in the communications business, but we are the worst at communicating”.

I have a client that I swear they have classes to teach their staff how to be as vague and obtuse as possible when “communicating” with crew about shoots. It’s like pulling teeth. They act like they are protecting state secrets. There are times that after receiving “answers” to questions, I know even less than before, somehow…

Im completely guilty .. like I said on another thread.

'if you are a pro you will be buying 16-35, 24-70, 70-200' (and therefore the cost of a mirrorless body is a small%)

of course I mean 'if you do mid level corporate and doc you probably need that set of lenses'

On the film set there was a close call to if the actor could carry the venice rigged snorricam.

And she just could not.

If they didnt spend 15 doing her hair and makeup while she was wearing she could have

It was all so marginal.

Boiling down to a snappy and empathetic director would have made it work.

But taking the booking.. 'is your director snappy and empathetic?' - I dont know how to say that.

(snappy - fast thinking and acting)

Maybe it was a no-win scenario. But I definitely consider one of my key skills (if not #1) to be compensating for the weak spots and oversights of my superiors, as I'm sure we all do. Occasionally I have to repeat myself and say "that's definitely not going to work if we try it that way" enough times until the message actually gets through

Not a single one of the producers at my main editing client provides me with all the necessary details of the deliverables when they send me email briefs. I'm talking target run time, aspect ratio, how many different videos we're cutting from the footage, what type of music they want. The most basic stuff that I inevitably have to ask them about in a follow-up. But no matter how many times I ask them to, they never tell me up front
