This guy is looking for all the pennies back

Someone just posted on the CML about getting a great deal on a 5DM2 kit and I immediately thought "How much did they pay you to take it?"

We might be missing something? This could be going up as a collector's item. Where else could you find a ready-made kit like this? :)

There was a real war of accessory makers trying to cement themselves in the minds of newbs, myself included.

Vincent Laforet was perhaps the most important word(s) missing from that list.

That video really got my brain racing, like I'm sure millions of others. All of the possibilities coming.

Oh, yes. I spent a lot of money on products with those names on them (also Jag35, Cinevate, Letus, Varavon, Shape). I know that some of those are still around, but SmallRig really took over.

ha! People always associated that blue gear stuff to be cheap, but he didn't care!

What's on the camera body and why? (Assuming tape with writing by not sure why.)

lol. tilta sitting back, smallrig not even a thing (the Chinese probably knew most of these small players would go under).

I forgot about Letus. Look at Shane Hurlbut's master series promo. It feels like I'm watching a ps1 demo. At 00:30 seconds "man cam"!

I think it might've still been an unfinished version where the buttons aren't labelled or a custom modification (in original article you can see high res image).

The labels look to match the stock original c300 buttons, rather than their own custom hot buttons. I had to look up a picture, I didn't know from memory!

I clicked the link and saw more...thing barely made it out of the factory.

And, yeah - classic I's and II's C-Log1/2. It just screams it. (Especially II's 2 in other videos.)

I swear they are the only cameras of their kind and Canon never made one like them again. IMO, the C200, C300 Mark III, C70, and C700s all have their own look, I guess naturally as they should.

I know I did a foray into SmallRig, was really excited by their interactivity and co-design approach... but wound up going back primarily to Zacuto, Wooden, & Shape as all my SmallRig's crappy metal galled and stripped. I have maybe four low-stress SmallRig pieces left in my rigging kit, all the others have been sold or recycled.

Even some of the ancient plastic CPM rig bits have held up longer :D

I do admire their ability to quickly put out novel camera-specific solutions to rigging problems. It does help when you leverage customers designing things for you (especially without any royalties paid).

-I spent a lot of money on Red Rock to make my original C300 useable.
-Chrosziel existed way before the dslr/large sensor digital cam revolution.
-Berkey Systems: He builds good stuff. I have his top plate and handles on my F55, still today.
-He who shall not be named…. Lol :Drogar-BlackEye(DBG
-Zacuto: around before the “revolution’, too. I still have and use some of their stuff designed for broadcast cams and real film gear/accessories.
-Can’t comment on the rest
