Canadian Camera

The gloss of my new camera purchase has worn off a bit from last week. I just realized that what I purchased (brand new in the box) is a Canadian model. I hadn't been able to reach the company I purchased it from as of yet so I'm wondering.....Is there any issues from owning a Canadian model vs. the U.S. version. I'm assuming the quality and specs are the same, perhaps there's some warranty issues, is anyone familiar with this?

Re: Canadian Camera

I think the Canadian model apologizes to you whenever the video doesn't come out as well as you'd like it to...even if it was your fault and not the camera's.

Re: Canadian Camera

The only issues are to remember to keep it covered up so the drips from the igloo don't wreck it, and inscribe your name on it so your next of kin can get it after the polar bear attack.

Are there "any issues from owning a Canadian model", "assuming the quality and specs are the same"...........please.....

Re: Canadian Camera

Thanks for all the smart ass remarks. The retailer did contact me regarding the issue. I did have a grey market camera without the USA warranty. I am getting the camera replaced with the full USA warranty along with magic bullet software only availabe with the US version (so I'm told). FYI - the camera of course is the same, it's just the warranty that is different, where it can be serviced, etc.

Re: Canadian Camera

I was just joking around. Not being a smart ass towards you. Jesus Christ, you can barely joke around with anyone anymore...

I hope with that new camera you get a free sense of humor...

Not bloody likely, everyone knows that most funny DVX's come from canada.

I heard that the canadian DVX came with some ham slices that are mislabled with the word "bacon".

Re: Canadian Camera

very good....am i right in thinking in canada the model there is the DVX 100AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!

Re: Canadian Camera

I also "got" a gray market Canadian version. The lens cap is a hockey puck, but I love it just the same. ;D

Re: Canadian Camera

Javanino,

A lot of the users around here have a warped sense of humor and you need to process their remarks with a grain of salt. I realize that your post went unaddressed but I'm glad you got it sorted out in the end.

I hope you weren't scared off... :'(

Re: Canadian Camera

BEING the only Canadian participating in this discussion, I feel I must correct some misconceptions regarding the Canadian DVX100x cameras.

I must address the items included with the camera....one case of Molson beer.......eh....

And Javanino, put a toque on it....

Re: Canadian Camera

Disjecta,
Juveniles don't bother me, they're everywhere especially on these discussion groups. I get some good info now and then from knowledgable people. Some of the assholes just need to get a life. If being codescending and childish gives them pleasure, so be it.

Re: Canadian Camera

Javanino, perhap's if you had not implied that a "Canadian" DVX, might in some way be "inferior" to the "US" version "I'm assuming the quality and specs are the same," you might have recieved the type of responses you were looking for.
You get what you give.

Now, I'm off for a brewski, if I can dig my way out of this igloo............wait a minute.............that's not snow, that's a polar bears butt.....bummer, eh?

Re: Canadian Camera

Actually, we have the DVX100'eh?' rather than the 100a.  The voice goes up when we pronounce it  ;D

But that's a whole other issue...quality wise, it's the exact same camera - so the only issue might be the warranty thing - I'd definitely call up the place you got it from.

*edit*
I just realized that you already did that, and posted about it...

Re: Canadian Camera

It being the Canadian model had nothing to do with it being grey market. It being grey market had to do with the people you got it from...

It was a dumb question though, dumb questions get dumb answers... that's like saying "I have a pencil, I got it from joe's store over on the west end of town. Now, the pencil is the exact same, writes the same, is the same brand as the pencil I got from Jack's over on the east end. Is there anything wrong with the pencil I got from jack's?" Obviously not, you've established it's the exact same from what you've written...

Canada isn't as foreign a place as you might think that it would make such a big difference in the quality of the camera...

Re: Canadian Camera

Actually it seemed like Javanio was asking about the warranty issues, not the quality - he says that he knows its the same camera...

Re: Canadian Camera

I think some of you Canadians might have an inferiority complex (pookie). No where did I say the Canadian model (if it so existed) was inferior. Did it ever cross your mind that the American model (warranty here) might actually be the inferior one? Ahhh...something to ponder.

Re: Canadian Camera

Everyone knows products from canada are inferior to products from america. That's why the politicians don't want us using them cheap canadian perscription drugs, to...protect...us...right?

Does the canadian DVX still come with a DVD copy of Strange Brew? I lost mine.
