just got manhatten 8.9" LCD

can anyone send me a link to where to buy that type of velcro separately (ebay or whatever, i think they allow ebay here now)

there's also an additional tekkeon battery pack that can be paired with the battery.

i just went to walmart and bought some velcro. came in a roll for like $4 i think? i put 2 strips on it, more than enough support.

Most available velcro comes with an adhesive back. Just be sure you get that kind instead of the sew on only type.

John when will you have a hood for your monitors? Any of your Manhatten owners know if the 8" Panasonic Hoodman or any other hood would fit on your monitor or is there one commercially available now that will fit?

Is there a discount still being offered to DVX users? I'd like to buy the 8.9" HD Pro Monitor HD089B with Tekkeon MP3450 Battery... and how much life will you get out of the battery? How long to charge? is there a quick charger?

Tekkeon batteries are awesome. I have two and they will now do double duty between my Zylight and Manhatten Monitor. I read up to five hours run time is what is on their spec page. As for a discount it seems we missed it, it ended on Feb.25th (my birthday) and I couldn't find any notice of an extension so I ordered mine this morning.

Sunhoods should be here in 4 days. I will post here when I get them.

Brain, you should have your monitor tomorrow, Fedex is 1 day to Canada.

Tekkeon MP3450 last about 5 hours with a full charge. When charging the battery, dead to full takes about 1 hour.

We are going to be switching the battery to a MP3700, a little more capacity, also the battery is auto senses the voltage, so you don't need to set the voltage.

FYI HD089C 720p navite is coming out in a few days.

no discount? I'd like to place my order. Also can you share the difference from the B version and the C version?

thanks!

In effor to get my monitor by friday ( i hope) i went ahead and placed my order for the B version. If there is a discount for DVX members i'd appreciate it :) I missed the last discount which expired 2/25/09. :(

Nice John.... The native 720 one you had in the shop looked nice.. but is it going to be the same size? I ended up getting the other model due to the case size and glad I did. I think the larger monitor would have been less convenient. Either way.. so happy and great monitor and I think a lot of people I've told have bought from you.

I would like to get a lens hood when you get one. Hit us up on this site and I'm sure a number of people will buy them. When people come here.. like you.. treat people fairly and deliver a good product.. the brothers at dvxuser will buy and support you. It's been one of the best online experiences I've had from just a creative and personal level.

Cheers to you guys and many years to come. Vinnie was super cool BTW and your monitor was paid off on the 4th day of shooting with it. Clients don't mind spending an extra hundred and twenty five a day to get a monitor and I'm happy to have it.. and to have it recoup'd so quickly.

I got my Manhatten monitor about twenty minutes ago and just did a quick test with the HMC150 via HDMI. The image is excellent. The build seems fine, nicely finished etc. Latency on movement may be an issue for me and I will have more time to test tomorrow. Although even the $1500. Marshall's spec the same 25ms latency.
Fedex is an excellent choice for delivery btw. Super fast in my case less than 24 hours from purchase to my door.
And for you Canadians FEDEX delivery includes the brokerage fees which is cheap and you only pay GST(5%) when they deliver it to your door. So it is not crazy like UPS who would charge at least a hundred bucks to clear it and then collect the GST and any provincial tax depending on your province. For those of us operating on a dollar worth less than .80 US on a good day this is makes the monitor more attractive.

I didn't notice too much latency.. but I haven't been doing highly critical stuff just yet. Mostly interviews and some narrative stuff. WIll have to check it out if I do some sports or something like that.

Just got my B panel today as well. Excellent build quality, and I'm in agreement with DM_Rider about the battery and monitor being too heavy to have the monitor affixed to the handle and hanging off to the side. Straight back is about as comfortable I could be, although it's a lot of trust in that Noga arm to not collapse and have the monitor come crashing down on the eye piece. When I get my DV Multirig Pro, I'll attach the monitor to the handles. Otherwise, it was a pleasant experience with the folks over at ManhattanLCD and well worth the investment.

I'm anxious about them releasing that sun hood. I made a temp one out of black wrap. it worked in a half-baked sort of way. They have pre-drilled screw holes on 3 sides of the LCD monitor to mount the hood.

i used the foam core which is cheap an light and just screwed it on the holes that are already in the monitor, works great
