New Short (HVX + Redrock + Nikons)

Great Technique, Great execution. I love when you go handheld for the first time at his POV and although there is no dialogue is still kept my attention. Sound design is nice as well. Although I feel at the very end when the fish is flopping there is something that sounds out of place, maybe the flopping is too loud when we are seeing the two soldiers. Or maybe it just sounds like the same flop sound over and over again. Over all fantastic short thanks for posting it!

Thanks Optic, Im glad you liked it! I know what you mean by the fish flopping sound as I spent a lot of time on this one. In the end I decided that I wanted it to get very loud and annoying so that when the soldier shoots it its a relief. Maybe I did overdo it as it is a lot of the same sound repeated. Thanks again for watching and commenting!

well now that you mention it, it is definitely a relief when he puts it out of its misery, so you accomplished your goal, maybe just try to come up with a couple different sounds...but honestly if thats the biggest complaint, you got something good on your hands.

What is the longest lens you used there?

I used a telephoto lens but cant remember the exact length. I think it was somewhere between 100mm - 120mm. I only used it for one shot when the angler is running through the woods at the beginning.

The color is excellent!

Thanks! I used a magic bullet looks preset but I think that the aspen trees and beautiful scenery of colorado did a lot of the work as well!

I'm sorry I have to be completely honest here. Overall I liked it but it was just ok for me dude. Like I didn't see the point, but that's just me.

Also, when I watch a movie I don't like to be fooled. Let me explain. I like the natural flow to feel realistic all the time, if not I'm dissapointed. You dropped me @ 5:27 to 5:30 when it was very sunny and after the cut the light was instantly gone. I would at least expect for the sun to still shine on his hand or something.

I enjoyed most of the shots. One of my favorite ones was @ 1:49 That running shot was just super for me! Thanks for posting.

No apologies necessary luis, thanks for the honest feedback. The shot at 5:27 was taken in a spot on the river where he was getting direct sunlight, while the other shots were more shaded. Its interesting that you pointed out that shot because I originally had kept it out for that exact reason but then while watching the sequence I felt that the fishing technique done by the actor was lacking a bit so I threw it in to take the attention away.

Glad you liked the running shot at 1:49, that was one of my favorites as well.

Thanks again for the critique!
