DUDE F--KING DOPE!!!!!!
Awesome, I was glued to the monitor the whole time.

The emotional spaces I was in is really funny though:
1) Seeing it was shot on the D90 - mild excitement and anticipation.
2) Seeing that it was sideways - confusion, is the dude retarded? how the f--k do I flip the image in quicktime? Am I going to have to put this in an editor and rotate it just to watch it? Do I lay my head on the desk sideways? F--K THIS! NEXT?
3) Seeing that it might be oriented right - Wait a minute... this man might be a genius, how bold!
4) Seeing morphing - WHOAH! Not video mode but still frames interpolated in twixtor or something.
5) Seeing the shower - BAD A$$! Definetly Twixtor and why couldn't he have used the girl in there? Who the f--k wants to see this ugly dude showering.

A SOLID, SOLID 10 from me bro!

You're too funny. Thanks for making my day!

We did the shower scene last and were all longing for the female form. She was long gone, unfortunately. :crybaby:

Good god, the ratio surely toyed with me at first. Once I got into the film though, I found the odd stop animation-looking style and the compositing to be pretty enjoyable!

The repetition in this film reminds me of a piece I did for lovefest (didn't finish it) called Quip, but the repetition shows the characters move further apart, which is not that much unlike your film considering the man was rather aloof while the woman was desiring (although I feel like we, as men, should try not to perpetuate the stereotype of the aloof, austere man always being ogled by the woman). The music was highly pleasant and helped establish an ethereal-yet-earnest tone for the film. This, like a number of other films I have seen lately, have made great use of visual storytelling without dialogue. I deeply appreciate your foray into such endeavors.

Now, this does not come without hangups, hiccups, and minor "glitches," if you will. I suppose that as a piece, this most definitely sits in the abstract art/experimental category even though there is a clear narrative. The inverted aspect ratio was a fiendishly clever idea, but I'm sure that it's going to rub a lot of people the wrong way. As far as acting goes, the actors came through with what they should do, and most of the time, their performances seemed to be in the hands of those editing, compositing, and digitally enhancing the film.

All-in-all, a fun experimental film with a heart. There's more I could say, but while I sit here working on a research essay, I'm feeling fatigued from the films and sociological research.

Nice work!

Now the world is going to need to revamp their cineplex screens to fit this 'dawning of a new age' in film.

Yes, Tim really pushed some pretty exciting envelopes here.

When I first got the rough draft, I was like 'Um, you what?' My 'fuzzy story' world was shattered.

'Trust me, I got it all figured out in my mind', or something to that effect, was all I had to go on. I think I dotted a few I's and crossed a T or two, then tossed in some sushi, but the rest is all Tim.

We worked on a few ideas, but the one recurring theme was WHITE. Sure is a great and commanding statement.

Damn, what a cool flick.

Excellent job, Tim

Appreciate the great review. I agree, it does give you more "God-like" abilities :Drogar-Evil(DBG): than usual to mold the performances when you can take 5 frames and stretch it out over 10 seconds. My feeling is that your can almost always make a construct-o-performance in editing, but doing it this way gives you Extra Powers.

Alright! I was waiting for your review. Thanks for all your work, and don't play it down so much. Sometimes the smallest additions make the biggest differences. We never stopped rewriting... I think it shows. Cheers :beer::beer:

Man, Tim, what a damn fine piece of work! I knew you were a talented filmmaker from Anti DP, but this took me by surprise. Way to push yourself and the technology to make an absolutely beautiful film. I really don't have any criticism, just praise. I loved everything about Again to Return. Bravo.

Really interesting 'how to' on 2nd post. Two films like this and time for a new camera.

No on the disclaimer. I really liked going into this with no expectations, instructions, advisories ...

i liked this alot, just one question: how!?

lots of luck!

yeah Vermont Film! And yeah Kevin & Kael!

This was a fun piece -- and I agree that it gave the running water an incredibly cool look.

My brother and I are both around six and a half feet tall -- so we have BOTH talked about usin the "tall" aspect ratio. I'm really glad ya went out and did it.

Good stuff. And thanks. Maybe we'll run into each other up in the frozen north?

Evan- Thanks

yeah, Kevin is a tall one too, so it was nice to be shooting tallscreen.

We should absolutely connect and collaborate on one of these soon. I've been wanting to venture into comedy, or action/comedy, or action/adventure/comedy, or thriller/suspense/action/comedy/lovestory/mockumentary/animated..comedy.

You left off erotic/western/art house

Clockwork Orange meets Yuel Brenner for an out-of-control spank-a-thon.

Jesus, again with the spanking? Don't say anything ZaZa.

Odd goodness! A total art piece. I have never seen anything like this before. Great job. It looked amazing!

Sorry Zim. I was a little worried because it's encoded with a really high bit rate to squeeze out the best quality in 50MB. (I'm so greedy :))
Perhaps if you select "half size" in the view options. Or maybe try downloading again. If that still doesn't work I'll send you a link after the fest with a smaller version.

Hope it works for you.

TiJo- Thanks for the praise!

Oh, man! I like this a lot. Excellent work. Another music video? Yes, but you told a story with a creative flair. I love ingenuity and like very different things when done right. You succeeded and I have nothing negative to say. Thank you for also explaining the process on the front page of this thread. You get a nerdy two thumbs up.
