New iMac, Looks Great, can you edit on it?

It's got enough power, updated graphics, and enough storage, but how the heck do you ingest video into it from something like a FS-100 now that they are getting rid of firewire ports?

They're not getting rid of FireWire altogether. Only FW400. There is still a FW800 port (just get an adapter).

They have gone one step too far with the keyboard, its just rediculous now...

What other keyboard? I have a DVX100b and am looking at ordering a 24" Imac soon, what do I need to know?

Oh Okay, so there is an adapter that goes from 400 to 800 then? But what's the logic? Why get rid of the Firewire 400 ports in the first place?

In case it isn't clear to everyone, the "adapter" is just a FW800-FW400 plug cable.

Their keyboards look funny, but after using them for awhile become a pleasure, for me, anyway.

I've been editing HD P2 on my iMac 24' 2.8 4GB ram for six months, never had an issue. I would like to buy a twin and hook them together with xGrid, so they become a very fast machine with two 24' displays.
cheers

It took a while but I like the new keyboard now. If I can edit DVCPROHD on my 5 year old G5 you should be able to edit on the new Imac.

But if I daisy-chain my DVX off of my FW800 drive, doesn't that mean that my drive is going to be limited to the speed of the DVX? I don't like that idea.

Shouldn't. The camera will be at the end of the chain, so as long as the chain up to that point stays FW800, you'll be fine.

Now, if you were to daisy-chain the computer to a FW400 drive to a FW800 drive, the 800 drive would be limited to 400.

You can also order the other keyboard at no charge

I bought mine a year ago and opted for the keyboard with the number pad mainly because I use the directional keys a lot when editing. It's second nature for me while scrubbing through footage to dial it in precisely with the arrows.

I'll admit I'm still not used to the low profile keys yet, but I'm getting there. Its funny, when you show a PC user your iMac the first thing they do is touch it or the keyboard. They're just pretty machines.

FW400 can only do 400, while 800 can do both.

Maybe you're using more than just the arrows, but the keyboards without number pads still have arrows:
