Looking at making a pretty big investment coming up soon. Buying a new mac pro system and camera. Got the kinks worked out pretty much on the mac pro system, but I'm still trying to figure out the best place to buy an HPX170. As everyone is, i am trying to make the most out of the purchasing power i have, so can anyone recommend the best place to buy? Not sure if i am entirely comfortable buying used... Any and all help would be appreciated.

You can get a brand new HPX171 from the U.K. for about $3,800.00 but the warranty is only for U.K. so you would have to ship it back for warranty service.

171 is switchable from PAL to NSTC.

youre not going to find any secret deals anywhere. if you want a legit camera that is serviceable in the country you live and purchase in. youre going to pay pretty much the same thing at any authorized dealer. prices may vary $200-$400 ish depending on current "specials" but thats about it.

i personally dont care for B&H for a handful of marginal experiences - but still they are very legit. also look at specialized communication, full compass, able cinetech, filmtools, among others people will suggest.

It will run about $5195.00 if you shop the Panasonic authorized dealers.

That's about as good as you can do new.

I bought mine from Spec comm. I would highly recommend them. Their customer service is is very good. If I ever have any problems with my cam, I can call them and feel confident that they will do everything they can to help me out. Plus, you get a free battery or cover lens when you buy from them.

If you are buying a 170 and not a 171, I will second Spec Comm. I also bought mine from them, they are great.

Best price I've seen in the UK is at DSvideo.tv, but it must be bought in a package with 32GBx2 , and then it's a really good deal.

£3700+vat.

Yes.

They have quoted me on this package before.

I am just thinking the 64GB cards will be here soon and prices SHOULD be moving downwards for P2 media.

Got the camera for £3500 in the end! With two 32GB cards worth about £1600!

The lens is now fixed from stock it appears, no play in it.
