EX3 Relay for Letus adaptors

This morning I received from Hien Le of Letus, the B4 pro relay and very excitingly the long awaited EX3 relay for Letus adaptors.

It's really nice. F1.5, a little bit shorter than the Pro relay, certainly longer than the Compact relay. It looks really neat on the EX3.

i will try it out for the first time on a shoot tomorrow. Can't wait. Will report back!

I dunno why but that rig looks pretty cool. Add Mattebox, etc!

I am MOST interested in the differences between the stock lens and the Letus Relay. Is it safe to assume that it'll be a little faster than the stock lens at it's focal distance/length equivalent?

Got the Matte Box but I like going naked!!

It's f1.5 so def faster than stock lens at it's focal equivalent.

That's what I thought! This wasn't an interest of mines (outside of wanting to make sure it performs of course) but if the HPX300 rumors come to be true, this EX3 Relay will have a place in the 1/3" Bayonet crowd that's about to form.

By the way, the B4 PRO is a beefy, solid son-of-a', huh? When I first picked it up I immediately felt like I was holdin' somethin' along the lines of an MKIII. Only slimmer.

I've finished lining up my ducks (cameras) and I'm about to start shooting some with the Ultimate and B4 Relay for the Panasonic kids.

Phillip, do you see any problem for letus to adapt this to a 1/3 mount? What would be the losses?

EDIT- I know this should be a difficult question for you in this phase of the product, but can you tell me how this works with the Brevis? Does it work at all? I invested my money on the Brevis, and what I'going to fork out to pay the camera + relay + lens is already on my budget limit...

A separate 1/3 mount would have to be made. That'd be too much of a crop factor to use a 2/3 to 1/3 adapter or something like that. Letus already has made a 1/2 inch relay for the EX-3 series of cameras. So I don't for one second doubt they'll pass up making a 1/3 inch one... especially with the new HPX300 announcement.

They made the research investment already. They know what optically works... and will certainly implement that knowledge to make relays for any ENG camera out there.

....Sony EX3 lens used with a Letus35?

This may not be the best use of the letus. Could you use the EX3 relay with the Letus and original EX3 stock lens in front of the letus instead of a prime?

It seems it's a decent zoom lens from what I've seen and if you buy an EX3 only to remove that lens is that a possible use and would it work well? I know your better off with primes but if your in a bind and don't have the proper glass can this work?

If not it seems like Sony should offer the EX3 without a lens for those who want it strictly for use with an adaptor.

Just a thought.....I only had one coffee today so please bear with me if I'm not making any sense! :)
