I'm looking for the best prices out there on the HMC150

according to texas media system, they have it at 3295, but I imagine that doesn't come with the 15 gig card nor an extra battery?

Where did you guys find the best deals?

Canadian folk, where did you get your cameras? All my dealers near me sell it for 4800 Canadian before taxes.. I would love to buy it locally but there is quite a cost difference here.

Texas Media Systems I believe can price match but don't quote me on that. But, you can get an free 8GB SDHC card and Battery thanks to the HMC150 rebate.

You planning to buy it in the US or Canada?

I got mine at Vistek.ca for $4699 with 5800 mAh battery and 16 GB SDHC card. It went up from $3999 last December, too bad I didn't had the money back then. :( Prices will go up again after February. :(

^ No idea, Vistek said prices have been going up since December for all their products. Thats what I noticed too, I wish I bought mine at $3999 + SD and Battery.

I just ordered mine from B&H today, (ya hoo!! ), for $3199.95 with free shipping and the rebate...

I'm very excited...

BTW, Hi! First post.

3199 is without the extra battery and the memory card right? Is it missing any other accessories?

It's been a while since i've ordered a large purchase from BHphotovideo.com, so I can't recall what i would pay if i ordered it to Canada.

Canadians, chime in here, If i ordered the cam at $3200, how much duty and taxes would i pay?

The extra battery and card are a Panasonic, mail in rebate. It applies to the B&H purchase...
Comes with everything Panasonic puts in the box. B&H doesn't play those missing parts for a lower price game.

I don't know if the free shipping applies to Canada...

I went with 2-day air for an extra $17...delivery date is next Wenedsday:)

im not talking about shipping, but more taxes and duty. I believe electronics are duty free, but am curious to see what the taxes would be coming to Canada.

The rebate form also states:

"Offer only good in the 50 United States"

So this rebate won't work for folks in Canada, unless there's another rebate deal from Panasonic there.

you are absolutely right, but it will still be valid if i purchase it from an american company right? Same as the DVX when i got barry green's book, etc...

My question still stands, how much do Canadian folks end up paying on taxes on a cam? If i know this then i can make my decision.

I'm not certain that it still would be valid.

Might want to check with whom you are purchasing from and also ask them about CN taxes and fees.

Especially BHPhoto which ships to Canada.

Do we have any contacts on the forum from spec com and texas media, or even BH? I could msg them about these issues.

I bought mine from spec-comm a few weeks ago. If you do a wire transfer they reward you 2% off. It made mine about 3220 shipped. Awesome staff, great service!

spec-comm is running a banner ad on DVXuser.com that say Call for special pricing. HOwever, when you call, there is no special pricing for DVXUser members. What's up with that? Is it just an out of date banner? If so, it should be updated.

Papa, my understanding of it is that at the border you will get hit with Canadian taxes no matter what. For example here in Ontario for me that's 13%. I've ordered cameras from B&H in the past and been hit with massive brokerage, what someone told me in the past though is that is you ship with UPS Worldwide Saver or UPS Expedited that won't happen as those cover it somehow, but I haven't tried it yet. There is no duty on camera gear and if they charge you for it I thinks there's some kind of form to get it back.

And Vistek's prices went up because the Canadian divisions of these companies are charging them more to buy them from them. We should all hurl insults at Panasonic Broadcast Canada, the company that for years did not give us free P2 cards, books or anything else our American counter parts have been eligible for. Panasonic Broadcast Canada says it costs them more to import it these days which is bs.
