Hpx300 rumors

I was wrong.

It does 12 to 60 fps.

Is advertised now at 9.990 Euros + VAT, but comes with two 32 GB cards.

Frank

I don't know Frank, you guys still pay higher prices over there.

HPX301 inc. two 32GB P2 cards - 9990 Euros = U.S. $12,721.00

Over here,

HPX300 inc. two 32GB P2 cards - (not sure but assume camcorder is around $8,900.00?)
Camera and two 32gb P2 cards = $11,638.00

Dan

Maybe they could include all the 4 and 8gig cards they are getting from people trading them in! HAHA Looks like a nice camera. Still curious to see how Discovery rates it.

a packaged 32gb p2 card would seal the deal for me. That may be too much to ask though...

All in all, very excited about this camera. Pro's of AVC-Intra and full raster fully outweigh the downfalls of CMOS in my opinion. These cameras are just tools. Use the best one for the job.

My question is, how does a full raster 1/3" camera have comparable low light performance to the 170, a camera with larger photosites? I hope there is no gain added even at 0 db...

How´s warranty handled in the US?
This 9990 Euros offer has to include 1 year of warranty, guranteed by law...
I think other cams have a much bigger price differnce though...

32GB p2 Card(s) with any Panasonic HVX/HPX camera would make any of them worth the buy!

Since the HPX300 has no movie parts, I'm pretty sure Panasonic will include their 5 year warranty upon registration. That would be SWEEEET!

The HPX300 will come with a one year warranty, standard upgradable to five years when you register it. Same as the HPX170.

Still curious to see how Discovery rates it.

As of today's Discovery Channel standards 1/3 inch camera's are Bronze. Only reason the EX-1/3 are silver is because they are 1/2 inch sensors. Discovery has been very clear about 1/3 inch camera's staying in the Bonze category.

Barry,
I've searched and searched and tried to find the answer to this. Regarding the 1/3" to 2/3" converter. how does the converter impact the image from the 2/3" lens? Let's say you want to use a 4.5 wide angle 2/3" inch lens. What does it become after passing through the converter? Any insight is appreciated.

And will this ''JVC ACM-17'' model converter goin to work with for hpx300?Logically should..

An answer to both questions: Yes the JVC ACM-17 will work - I've tried out.

The multiplication / crop factor from 2/3" to 1/3" is 1.833 or a 4.5mm wide angle 2/3" lens would be around a 8.25mm on a 1/3" camera.

Shipsides,
Thanks for the info. i didn't realize it would have that much of an impact. Really defeats the benefit of the wide angle 2/3" lens.

Will the 1/3" lenses that are touted as being built specifically for the JVC line of cameras work on the HPX300. I'm specifically referring to the Fujinon HTs18x4.2Berm-M48. It's a bayonet mount. It must be a higher quality lens than the stock lens on the HPX300 since it sells for more than $13 thousand at B&H.

Any thoughts or knowledge?

Thanks,
Jim

Yeah it IS the question on everyone's mind though...why not 1/2" chips?

Dont get me wrong, long time hvx200 and 200a user, but I've seen the advantage in bokeh and shallower DOF that 1/2" provides, along with light sensitivity

So, why not?

Would it have increased the cost?
Would the chips be too hot in the body?
i just don't see why not, seeing that the EX1 has them, for $6000 US

gotta agree with you on this one. I think we are on the verge of smaller cameras actually having photographic qualities now with DOF and that really is more important for me, than codecs, etc. But that is just me. It seems like it is going to be a lot of work to put a lens adapter to a camera of this size to play with DOF. But anyway, I don't need to casts the negatives on this gear as it is obviously not for me.

Actually, if one of the companys would come out with a proper 1/3" relay then 35mm lens, adaptor, relay combo would be the size of the Fujinon lens, so it would be easy as pie. I might even buy one if this is the case. I've been an adaptor-hater, only because they've been so long and ridiculous and ugly but being able to skip a fixed lens might make them ideal.
