It's scary and mysterious, which is what I like. I like posters that raise questions.
LOL! Yah, noticed that.
The picture in my poster is actually my actress. I stole it from her facebook account a while back.
Not sure really. It just looked like a sketch. Of course it could be a sketch of your actor. I'm sure it probably is. Didn't really think about it to tell you the truth. Are you saying the person on my poster is NOT one of my actors???
Great advice! How do you use these fonts from other web sites? I have no idea how to import them. Do you import them into PS somehow?Hey Mike,
Although I am by no means an expert at poster design, I thought I would pass along some feedback.
In order to come up with a "professional" looking movie poster I usually do a little research for inspiration. I will look at posters in a similar genre and see how they were designed. This isn't considered cheating btw.All pro designers do at least some research when tackling a new project. The idea is to borrow elements from various sources, but put your own creative spin on it. The site I like for this is www.impawards.com
For the title treatment, I would suggest browsing www.dafont.com for a great selection of free fonts. The great thing about this site is you can plug in your title and see how it looks in various type faces. Thousands to choose from.
For images, your own photos are best, but if not available, I would suggest www.sxc.hu as a great source of free stock photos and artwork. Takes time to find just the right image, but worth the effort.
Re. your poster specifically, I like the face but not the black square on her forehead. I'm not sure what it is, a "hole"? As is, it is distracting and probably not necessary.
I like the limited color palette. Very moody. J-horror (Grudge) like.
I'm not sure about the title font. Is that Trajan? Considering the genre seems to be thriller or horror judging from the photo, perhaps a heavy sans serif font, heavily distressed.
It would be nice to have a tag line. Something short and compelling. One of the best ever, "In space no one can hear you scream." Coming up with a good tag line is surprinsingly difficult, but it creates interest.
I LOVE the banner. I would keep it exactly like that.
Anyway, those are some thoughts.
Good luck.
You called sir?
I'll be shooting next week for sure. :beer:Cool poster!
(and ditto what Rodney said :-D)
I'll do my best! First shoot is on Wednesday.hmmm... i need to start putting my name on these posters
thanks for the compliments on the poster. I hope it will live up to the awesomenss that Mike is going to release upon us.
