what shutter speed would you shot at on a sunny day?

Shutter speed on a sunny day depends on:

- What aperture are you using, or trying to use?
- Have you kicked in the ND filters?
- Do you want smooth motion or strobing motion/high-speed action?
- Just how bright do you define as a "sunny" day?

Higher shutter speeds are handy for high-speed action, since a faster exposure stops action. But this can give you a strobing effect as well, which may or may not be a good thing.

Turn your zebra detectors on (80%), and expose your shots to where the whites/highlights just start to zebra. Past that, you need to go back and read up on the basics of shutter speed and aperture. Learn what they do, and the whys, whens, and hows of using them.

C2V asks all the right questions. All I would say is I would shoot "normal" shutter 1/60 (1/2 the frame rate of 30), unless there is a good reason to do otherwise. If I were shooting 24p, I'd shoot with 1/48 shutter.
