Letus 35mm DOf adpter for 2/3" Lens

I think the Zacuto crew hit the nail on the head, I am tired of doing corporate and cable/broadcast head shots in small rooms with no art direction, jamming my camera into a corner to get some focal length, iris too wide open--showing HD ENG zoom lens weaknesses-- to soften the background and having to look all over the place for set pieces to put in the background that will still be too sharp.

The Letus B4 Relay lens will allow my clients and I to take advantage of the 2/3" sensitivity, resolution and low noise, while FINALLY getting selective focus not easily achievable previously at an affordable price.

The relay, Ultimate and 35mm prime will not be much larger than my HD ENG zoom lenses. I know we will be seeing footage from a few sources very soon and I am expecting my Letus B4 Compact Relay to arrive this month--I can hardly wait!

Jeff, well be sure to post up some footage. Will you be going with the Zacutto set up? Im really interested to see shots coming from the lenses in their package.

Also, just did a price check and it would seem (because Aussie dollar is trading low right now), Id need to pay 23500 AUD. With the economy the way it is, just cant see the return on that clearly right now. So, Ill continue to rent primes on a jobs need basis.

Noel,

I have a set of eight Nikon prime AI lenses that I bought for less than the set of four Zeiss Nikon mount lenses Zacuto offers. The Nikon 35, 50 and 85mm lenses are F1.4 and look very sharp, plus the set ranges from 20mm to 135mm for more flexibility. I already have Chrosziel lightweight support rods and Letus V2 riser rods/lens supports, Chrosziel and Red Rock microMatte Boxes, Zacuto follow focus.

If the lenses are not perfectly matched, white balancing through them should do it, except for shading errors. This is the only concern I have with 2/3" cameras, shading issues are more obvious, but my cameras have plenty of shading control. I currently have Zeiss Super Speed/Pro35 shading files in my cameras, but the concern will be will the Nikons match eachother shading wise?

I think we'll be seeing footage from three sources this week, although most likely using Zeiss ZF SLR lenses vs. Nikons.

It's alive... footage... really soon.

Kholi,

Letus B4 Pro.....sweet! That must be a prototype since there are no markings. Do you have the B4 Compact as well? Remember--test footage with HPX3000's, AVC Intra please, side by side with a Pro35, same taking lenses. Ha, easy for me to say!

Hey Jeff,

There are actually markings on it, just not on that side. I think this is closer to the finished but a few more tweaks on production model. I can say that it feels very solid. I'm not willing to put it through the Naylor Ringer but it's a direct match for the Ultimate's build and it all feels like ONE solid piece.

Pretty amazing, I must say.

I've been trying to RE Lock down the HPX3000. I had one ready and rearin' to go but they picked up a job at the last minute.

No worries, there'll be a bevy of footies here real soon, pending the Le Approval of course.

Anybody had any footage of real shoots to share as well as their thoughts on the b4 relay so I can make my decision? Wanted to put one on my HPX500 by the end of May.
