My hvx200 won't connect to my Macbook Pro.When I try to connect the firewire to the drive it just says "1394 Device disconnect",and will aslo kick my external Lacie drive off my laptop sometimes.I recently upgraded to Leopard 10.5.6 and now have this problem. Here is my info I am running-any help would be great.Thanks.

Macbook Pro - Leopard 10.5.6
Final Cut Pro 6.0.5
Panasonic Hvx200
16gb p2 card
8gb p2 card
PC mode is on "1394 Device"

I have tried 2 diffrent firewire cables (One I always use and one brand new)
I have tried another harddrive and trying to connect straight to the laptop.

well, you don't need drivers if you just want to connect via F/W, but you do need to
1. have camera in 1394 device mode (as you said)
2. camera off, connect FW to Mac and camera
3. camera on, then switch to MCR, then hold down button for a few seconds to get to PC mode.

if no workee, then bad cable, bad F/W port at camera, or something not right at Mac.

Using two FW devices simultaneously on the same bus isn't a good idea.

Disconnect the Lacie or use the USB2 transfer mode.

I tried to use the USB and still no luck.I have tried to connect to the computer without the hard drive connected also.I know the FW cable is good cause I connected a Sony mini dv camera up and it worked just fine...

The really weird problem is that if the camera is attempting to connect to the computer-it will disconnect my lacie drive even if it is hooked straight to the computer?I can't get it to read a connection at all!

You don't want to connect the HVX to a Mac using USB. It's not supported.

You don't want to connect via firewire if another device is sharing your firewire connection.

Connect the HVX to the Mac using your firewire connection and find a HD to use with your USB or Expresscard connections.
