What's exactly the difference between the long and the short version? Only lightloss?

How many stops does each model loose with a whole setup + lens?

Any chance of some comparison footage between the two? I have my Ultimate with HVX achromat upgrade. Would that work well with the HPX?

These B4 prime relay lenses are for 2/3" cameras only. Perfect for an HPX500 or HDX900 amongst others. Both relay lenses are faster, when used with a Letus 35mm DOF adapter than a P+S Pro35 adapter/relay and much more affordable. The B4 Compact Relay lens is 1/4 stop faster than a
Pro35 and the B4 Pro Relay lens is 3/4 stop faster than a Pro35, according to Letus.

The B4 Pro Relay lens is said to be a tad sharper, a bit faster with better MTF and contrast than the B4 Compact. Both offer very good edge to edge focus and little to no chromatic aberration.

I have ordered the B4 Compact Relay lens and plan to rent it, the Ultimate and a set of 8 Nikon SLR primes with Zacuto gears for $350/day. This compares favorably to a Pro35/Zeiss Super Speed set for $600-700/day.

WOW omg this is a gooood day! Ive been dying for these to come out hehe, time to get saving.

What you reckon Dino, with the sharpness of the hpx500 would you opt for the pro relay or compact? (if the pro is a bit sharper is it redundent anyway for hpx500?)

i know you cant assure compatibility with other adapters but has there been any tests with the M2 - would love to get one if it would work with that rig.

I'll hopefully be doing compatibility testing next month in my 35mm Adapter shootout. You should be able to use this relay with a Pro35 or any Letus for sure though. I think it's best to use an optimized setup... you know all Letus, all Cinevate, all Redrock.

I just don't think that's quite Redrock's cup-of-tea. I may be wrong. How many indie/guerilla filmmakers have ENG style cameras?

i think the right question is how many ENG style owners also have access to a redrock adapter - could be many and be a reason for this to be tested

$6000 a pop. Good Lord, that's still a lot of doughs for me. Aaahhh, oh well... I guess I'll have to make due without it for now.

To be fair... there's an equally good option that looses a little more like (f/1.8 vs f/1.5) that costs $3,500. These are aimed at people using PL cinema lenses anyway.

Not sure why i'd pay 10,500 dollars, before the purchase of lenses.
You can buy a used digizoom for almost that price. There has to be a better way.

Plus you have the length of the relay, then the adapter, lens, mattebox.
Not very conducive for hand held work.

any news on a B4 adapter like the P&S?

This is a better quality, less expensive version of the B4 adapter by P&S. It has a relay to interface with 2/3" cameras. There are support systems already out there (e.g. Zacuto) that allow for the use of this system... and in comparison to a DigiPrime set... a Letus Ultimate + B4 relay + Zeiss ZF primes is cheaper.

I'm confused as to your last remark concerning P&S

Letus Ultimate with B4 Compact Relay lens is $8,000, if the B4 Pro is too much money. A used Zeiss Digizoom, if you could find one, would be much more expensive, providing the DOF of a 16mm lens, not 35mm.

Letus Ultimate w/B4 Compact Relay, 35mm SLR prime(50mm or wider) would only be ONE INCH longer than a typical HD ENG zoom lens. A 6-24mm Digizoom would be one and a half inches longer than the Letus setup including taking lens. The Letus B4 Pro Relay with Ultimate/35mm prime lens is only one quarter of an inch longer than the Digizoom 6-24mm, two inches shorter than a Digizoom 17-112mm lens.

A full size 2/3" camera with Letus setup is a very viable hand held setup, better than any palmcorder with a 35mm DOF adatper mounted to the end of it, better than a RED ONE. Obviously a large zoom lens on the end of a DOF adatper would not be a good hand held setup.

The Letus B4 Relay lenses with Ultimate DOF adapter are the most cost effective, high quality means to achieve 35mm DOF with a 2/3" camera currently available for ordering. Hopefully the Cinevate relay will follow shortly. There is simply no better way to get 35mm field of view and DOF with a 2/3" camera for the money and possibly at any price(I've got to see the Letus setup side by side with a Pro35 first).

Beautiful. I think Zacutto have done very well here. Wont be buying myself as the Aussie dollar sucks, but Im sure if I got one on my camera I could use it to full potential in a lot of areas (def. not ENG - but I dont shoot ENG so no probs). Maybe Zacuto want to hire me in Australia and give me a demo system to flaunt around. HEH

This isnt the typical argument either of wanting to buy the latest and greatest, this looks like a great tool matched with what seems like some quality product from Zacutto and those matched lenses... (Use Homers voice) Hmmmmm matched lenses. Would love to be shooting TVCM and music vid with this kit, instead of renting primes. Id like to see the images (moving, not stills), but I think its going to really shine.

EDIT: I have always been a supporter of using primes where possible, but the simplicity in this system is going to close the gap along with the quality of glass. Again though need to see shots.
