Are people trying to increase the 5 min record limit?

Hey,

I really like the images the D90 produces but would like to shoot for >10 minutes, prob to 20 odd (as long as the sensor doesn't overheat etc). I was wondering if anyone had modded the software etc to get around the 5 min limit.

Overheating is likely to occur, so it's probably only interessting for people in...eh germany like me, who are freezing for months now.

Anyway, it's just not that kind of camera. The usual stuff for the D90 is short scenes which exploit the advantage of different lenses, like ultra wide/fisheye, shallow DOF and stuff like that.

The question is why did they have to include the 5 min Liveview limit when there is a heat sensor that tells it to shut down in just a few seconds when overheating?

I shot five minutes takes on that ELOQUENT GRAFFITI New Year's Eve shoot for two straight hours, immediately pressing record as soon as each take ended. Didn't have any overheating issues.

It was in Los Angeles (I'm guessing)... It doesn't get that cold here, I am sure the overheating issue isn't really benefited by shooting in cold weather. However, if you are shooting in heat that does make it worse, I have been shooting at times in the hot sun here and not even been able to reach the 5 minute limit before overheating.

After it overheated how long did you have to wait before it cooled down?

it was outside, in the high 60's.
Thanks.
