Hello!
I'm proud to present you an italian indipendend film, Terre Rosse.
It is based on a partisan's book, it's a difficult love story between a young teacher who help partisans and a boy who works in a fascist office...
We worked on it (I'm the camera operator) for 3 years, no one earn money for it.
WW2 collectors help us with weapons, cars, uniforms... We work with an XL2 camera and, on some scenes, also with an XHA1.
Because of the really low budget (about 20.000 euros) we built a camera crane, a steadicam and a dolly.
We presented the film for the first time last December, it was a great experience, people loved it.
You can see the trailer in the Terre Rosse website: www.terrerosse.org
Hope you like it!

The grabs look fantastic, but I have to ask- was it a true no budget? You mentioned no budget, then said you had 20,000 euros. That is far from no budget, but pretty good for low budget. Either way, it does look great.

Good Lord! You got some incerdible production value there.
That trailer looks verry good.
Also dig that DIY Steadicam and the crane you build.

The use of a 35mm adapter would have ben the iceing on the cake, but nevertheless, it´s great - nice color and lighting too.

Is this going to the theatres or do you DVD only?

Frank

Yes, a 35mm adapter was our dream, especially in the inside scenes, where we can't blur the background... but we can't afford one!
Our budget was spent for the train scenes, a WW2car damage, and food (we worked with about 350 people).
The film is now in DVD.

This is very good. I want to see more. The grabs are 100% quality. I love to see this from the XHA1 because that's what we'll be shooting on.

This really looks good. What shoots are you using the XL for? And how are you mixing the two? And will your end product be HD or SD?

We used the XL2 for the entire film with the XHA1 in some of the last scenes.
In the beginning we had only one camera, but then I bought my XHA1 and we used both, especially in the battle scenes, the most difficult!
Our film, because of the XL2, is in SD...
In the XHA1 I used the preset more similar to the Xl2 settings, so there wasn't problem in mixing them.

By the way, I'm sorry for the language mistake, but my english is not so good!

Wow this looks great! I agree a 35mm adapter would have taken it to the next level but what you have looks fantastic. Interesting BTS photos as well, I like the garden hose rain maker!

The trailer link seems not loading?

I have never seen this much pro looking low budget movie...Very nice cinematography..

Very impressive production value. I can't currently view the trailer so I can't really say anything about the acting or direction but it looks like you've done some really great work on 20,000 Euros. Congrats.

Thank you! It was a hard work, without the right technical equipment but personally I learnt a lot.
Before this experience I have never used a camera!
But other people too, no one was in the "cinema world"...
