FS-100 mounting two HDs and no play back ????

I'm having an issue with viewing my clips thru the camera, so I thought I'd try my computer. Now I'm having an issue with both. My camera to FS-100 TC records as if something is going on and seems to have recorded to the drive as a .mxf file, but no play back on my camera in VCR mode.

I've also noticed that the P2 viewers are no longer available and don't work for power macs. I'm running a G5 dual and a Powerbook G4.
What program can I use to just view them ?

My FS-100 is mounting twice to my desktop with the same name FS083004 ?

FS-100 set to
- normal
- DVCPROHD REC
- P2
- TC REC RUN (SETUP MENU)
- FA TAPELESS (FUNCTIONS MENU)
- TAPELESS (CONTROL MENU)

Ok I got the .mxf files to transfer, forgot to organize P2 files. Now that I've done that, do I need to reformat my drive ?

For me, standard practice has been to leave the OLD footage on the FS100 until I'm prepping for my next shoot (at which time I will format the drive).

This is just "insurance" for me. It gives me an opportunity to actually scrub some footage on the computer to ensure that there are no problems. If there are (and there NEVER has been), I'll still have the original footage on the FS100.

Otherwise, if I just got in the habit of formatting following a transfer to the computer - I'd be screwed!

Thanks Neal, in the FS manual it says to reformat after organizing P2. Well I guess if you don't have to, then that works for me.

Any idea why I'm getting two FS drives on my desktop when mounting? I've looked for a partition on the FS, but couldn't find anything.

Well, you WILL have to reformat the FS before re-shooting if you have Organized P2.
You just don't have to do it immediately after dumping your footage to the computer.

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with macs, so I couldn't say why it is mounting twice. Sorry.

You are getting two drives because the FS160 or the 250 have two platters in there. That is what I would get when I mounted mine. Oh and by the way, I just bought an old G4 powerbook, 1ghz, 512mb ram, 60 gig drive, DVD burner, running 10.5 and I downloaded the P2CMS program and the P2 formatter program and they both work on mine. So give'em a try and don't believe everything you read:)

You won't see the partition until you fill one platter then it seemlessly starts recording on the other.

I'm totally lost on why it does that, but if it's ok then I'll just leave it alone. I just wanted to make sure nothing is wrong.

As for P2 viewers, I can't seem to find a working link. They're all broken and say not available anymore.

Here is the direct link for the mac P2CMS that I am using. Also I will send you the P2 Formatter that I downloaded in an email so pm me.

Make sure you have all the latest drivers installed. And don't pay any attention to all the system requirements, it works on both my G4 tower and my G4 Ti laptop.

And I have to say that the P2CMS viewer works really well.
