The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

wow.. strong words

Cant believe I spent 3 hrs of my life watching this "Forrest Gump" clone. The taxi scene is Cheesy, the lightning scenes are SUPER CHEESY and not to mention you just dont "feel" for Kate + Brad relationship AT ALL. To me the story is TOO Fragmented, and no, i didint like Forrest Gump either, IMHO, that movie is even dumber than this one.

Just got back from seeing this at the Alamo Drafthouse. (Gotta be the best place to see a movie.)

I enjoyed it very much, but wouldn't go so far as to say it's a perfect film. But it was worth every penny of the $8.50 I spent.

As the credits began to roll, half the theater applauded while the other half was crying.

AC article is pretty good. the shooting resolution was only 1080x1920. that's encouragement for anyone who's worried about the HVX's potential for going theatrical.

A Viper Filmstream outputting 4:4:4 with world class glass is a pretty far stretch from an HVX...

wot!!!! look the hvx will outperform the viper I dont care what glass you put on there, my hvx with extreme combo will smoke it

sorry guys could not help myself, gotta go now, I have to kiss and make up to my hvx's I think they saw this

:)

he said he didnt want to make him look like golum from lotr so they places his real head on top which they shot.

what would be his best perfomance to you.

I like BP alot of people dont give him credit enough sometimes. I will say his work is strongest with fincher.

Well, I'm kinda late here. Meant to see this much earlier but stuff happened.

Great great great film. I loved it. The last truly transcendentally amazing cinematic experience of my life was witnessing The Return of the King on opening day. This is equal to that experience. Different kind of movies, yes, but this was the best film I've seen in a long time.

Many films that I see in the theater are good, but not something that I am thinking about the next morning when I wake up. The first thought I had when I awoke today was how beautiful and amazing this film was. Some have criticized this, but I really don't have anything to say against it. No film is perfect but I don't feel qualified to criticize this.

What's Fincher doing next?

torso. well now it's called ness.

it based a graphic novel based on a true life serial killer who would kill his victims only leaving the torso. heres a tiny synopsis

U.S. Treasury Department agent Eliot Ness becomes a public safety officer in Cleveland where he assembles a team of retired cops to find a serial murderer who dumps his victims torsos in the river. Based on Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreyko's graphic novel.

Matt Damon Casey Affleck And Rachel McAdams are currently attached for the film

I'm gonna rant on this film. I'm normally the quiet one in the room but I really hated this film.

Overlong. overrated.

From a technical side, it's an A. The aging effects are great. The sound, editing, art direction, and cinematography are good for the look and mood that Fincher wanted. I'll give it credit for that.

But...

from a story side, as a whole, it's all a series of convenient episodes surrounding the main character, who still is an enigma. Minor characters walk in and out. They die before they become memorable. Too many coincidental meetings and deaths are used to move the plot. I didn't buy it.

Pitt's acting is quite good in the first act but is quite boring after it. By the third act, he's in full Meet Joe Black/Legends of the Fall mode, losing all charm and relying strictly on his looks.

Toward the end of the third act, the conclusion, they don't need Pitt at all.
That's a relief. And.... that's actually the moment where people cried the most. Kinda ironic, huh? The moments that got the biggest emotional response were not Pitt's.

There's absurd scenes too. An example was the tugboat attacking a sub. There's also this running gag of a dude getting struck by lightning. A sub-sub-subplot of swimming the English Channel, which is all BS and the damn taxi cab scene (it's great editing but it's just over the top. It's like a pop singer who holds the damn high notes, just to show off...It's a completely useless sequence of shots...in an already 3 hour film...get on with it).

There's also a rather silly montage toward the end of the film to show where Brad's character visits over a series of years. It's a DEVICE to keep him in the film because Brad Pitt's character is looking younger to the point where they can't CGI him. Ever see the Wayan's Brothers' classic epic "Little Man", maybe they should've done that?

Overall, this film is wasted opportunity.

It starts off great but...slows down...and isn't the Best Picture of the year.

Wall-E had more heart and emotion than this film had and it's just a bunch of robots!!! I would even argue that Let The Right One In, The Dark Knight, Happy Go Lucky, Slumdog Millionaire, In Search of a Midnight Kiss, The Wrestler, Milk, and Revolutionary Road had more emotion than Ben Button does. There were some great films last year. Some arguable classics.

But...Button is not one of them.

I liked this movie, but I really want to see it again so I can pay more attention to the story line. First time I saw it, all I was doing was analyzing the scenes and wondering how they achieved certain lighting scenarios etc , it was annoying.
