Music Video (D90) Danny Leeds

btw i'm talking about indies and local acts. i'm sure madonna pays more (it's actually the artist that pays for videos, not the labels even though they obviously often front the cash) but she hasn't asked me yet. :-)

Well, it's been around a year and a half ago when I've heard from a "small" company that they would not consider working for less than $10,000 and that's almost considered as a favor. However, they seemed to have had a good amount of contracts with big labels. I can't talk about now with this economy. I also have a music studio so I know about the current budgets, that's why I'm more into producing my own projects than booking hours.

Yeah...The Madonnas are still paying big bucks for their videos :)

same here, but that only means the labels come to me and that the companies do other things. very few production companies big enough to have employees make videos these days. it's not the size of the label btw, it's the band. i've worked on videos for several of the majors that were $5,000 or less. they have a lot of smaller/local bands that can't afford more.

With the amount of time spent on these $2000 videos including planning, filming and editing, how much can someone like you make per day?

$100 maybe if i'm lucky. pretty bad but as i said i have other gigs that are less fun but pay better. in the end it works out ok. as long as i'm making *something* i'll keep making videos.
