Corrado Part II

Hey Chip,

How do you start a new thread?

This is probably the correct place for it:

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/forumdisplay.php?f=18

On the bottom left there is a button that says "start new topic."

This will be fantastic!

Great job on all your media, I watched and read the links. You have some really good PR footing to work with.

FYI your exec producer M. Beach was on the TV show Third Watch with an old friend of mine from KC "Jason Wiles" (although he changed his name after high school when he went to be on Beverly Hills 90210) I think Jason is the main character (I never watch it). I think M. Beach might have also been the exec producer on a film Jason produced / directed called something like "The Lenexa 1 Mile"? I have met about 10 people here that we have 1 or 2 degree's of separation :)

This is a really good place for indies and there are so many great people here!

Can't wait to follow your thread & thanks for doing this for us!

Chip

Filmman & Rubbersquare: Thanks alot. I think the Advantage program is probaply the thing for me, as we already have had copies produced. It'll be interesting to see what can be done with a foreign film on Amazon.

Like Zak pointed out earlier in this discussion, selling DVDs or downloads online via non-exclusive deals, depends on how much marketing the filmmakers do themselves. There are millions of books, DVDs and other items on these websites and any movie will be totally lost if it's not promoted.

So it's back to square one again; selling movies from your website is no different than selling movies from Amazon: it takes work, time and effort.

The only advantage of an Amazon is the fact that should your movie or you become famous, everybody will be looking for it, and they won't find it as easily on your website, but they will find it on Amazon. That's when you sell millions -- millions, I tell you. LOL

"There he goes again, talking about millions!" she said :)

Hey guys,

Long time no talk! I've been buried writing RRB.

Roberts: You have an utterly fascinating story. I think the success you've enjoyed goes hand in hand with the movie you made. I like your model alot, but frankly I don't think that Corrado fits into that type of marketing. I've got several meetings lined up on the film for January, and really, what I want now is for the people I've met with (and will meet with) to take over the reigns on the sale of Corrado to all territories and markets. Enough distribs have looked at Corrado to tell me I have a great, marketable mainstream genre pic that will have no trouble selling.

I need someone else to focus on that, like a sales agent / producers rep so I can focus on the next film, which will be a much bigger effort to launch and get underway. Corrado is a direct to DVD film, not a clever festival winning doc like your film. I think the DIY grassroots thing you have going on with your film is perfect for that type of film.

Your ideas are so good that I might borrow some of them for the next film, which definitely has the grassroots element to it.

Really an amazing thing you've done - I just don't have the time to chase down every penny domestically especially since Corrado was more or less always intended for foreign with a smaller domestic component.

Hey Adam,

Thanks for the kind words and I truly understand your position. It's brutal here in the trenches and if a major studio had given me millions for my film after I finished it, I would have taken it faster than you could have said ____ (you insert something brilliant here)!

On another note Adam, if there's ever anything I can do for you feel free to reach out. The honesty that you've laid out here is awesome. So many times people try to make the process seem magical and dreamy and you honestly with grit, let people se what it was like to put a film together.

As a matter of fact, the way you laid it out with your awesome writing style, the read was better than most movies that I see.

So once again thanks for the wisdom that you've shared with the DVX community and I wish you all the success in the world my friend.

Darryl

I will have to take you with a grain of salt (and some sand in my underwear)

EDIT: Dammit CHAD!!!!

Dude, thanks!

Your marketing angle rules. If I thought Corrado would go viral like your flick I'd do it your way. You're cool bro. We need to hang. PM me if you ever need anything!
