Hi All - I shot this footage with my DVX-100B in Ghana a couple of years back. I just uploaded a clip on Vimeo, please check it out and let me know what you think!

When i was first pulling together the resources to travel to Ghana and shoot some footage I relied heavily on the DVXUser.com community for support. You all know this already, but this is a great community!

yow jordan i liked it man. especially the last part with the singing and the changing shots of the kids. Maybe a score with some music playing underneath with some scenic shots would have made it feel more like something i'd see on National Geographic. Something to consider. nice work though

Nice nice, I enjoyed watching it. I think it's easy to take things for granted. Good work.

(PS- Did you de-interlace the video before uploading?)

I forgot to de-interlace this one... it was my first upload to Vimeo and I overlooked that. Thanks for watching!

I have a bit of that in my longer version of the film. I just went ahead and uploaded it as a second clip, check it out when you get a chance:

Excellent work. My neighbor is from that region in Ghana. We hope to be able to shoot there in the summer/fall of 2009. I too am interested in your scene file settings and any other advice related to access to power sources, protective gear, on-camera lighting (if any) and any other special considerations that would make film making there a little easier. Thank you.

Thanks for the feedback guys! It's been a couple of years since I shot this footage, but I'm 99% sure I shot this in "24p Advanced." I didn't use any extra lighting at all, just relied on daylight. The microphone was an AudioTechnica AT4073 - it never let me down and I think got great sound the whole trip.

I'm going to keep uploading footage from the trip so stay tuned. I also shot a film in Haiti that same year that I will be posting footage from.

Good luck with your travels to Ghana - i am happy to answer any questions you may have or help connect you with people on the ground there around the city of Ho if you will be traveling there.

great video. very well done and i loved the content, except one thing that annoyed me was the fact that you didn't obey the rule of thirds in the framing of the guy around 1:21 and it was just annoying to see him right in the middle of the frame. otherwise it conveyed the message really well.
