Trying to figure out the best workflow for me - hvx205a/ FS 100

Hello all. I'm just a newbie on this cam as told on other posts, and I'm really trying to figure out which is the best workflow for me. So, I've grouped my questions, so we can discuss and help others users too.

Now I'm shooting with my new HVX 205A, via FS-100 Firestore Drive. Editing on FCP using a Mac.

I made some tests with 1080i 24P, 720p 24P, and tried to understand the p2 pn, 'quicktime pn' on the FS-100 drive if the camera is not set to PN.

So, my questions is:

1. the format 1080i 24p is interlaced, what's actually on practice the difference from the 720P to make my movies? What's the best format to use? Why I see those scanlines when using the 1080i format, and how it can be better edited?

2. In 720P 24P, could someone successfully recorded in P2 PN format with the FS drive? how it works, and what's the real difference between P2, P2N, Quicktime and Quicktime PN formats?

3. Why should I use the P2 native format on the FS Drive?

4. Someone can post a complete workflow using the fs drive from shooting to output on dvd, cinema, projector or broadcast?

Thank you, excuse my english and newbie questions

Elias,
I have not utilized the QUICKTIME recording modes on my Firestore. However, I have used the pn mode. It works the same as if you were to shoot 720 24pn to a P2 card. It records only the native frames providing larger recording capacity. On my 100 gig Firestore that gives me a little more than 4 hours of recording time at 720 24pn. You set the camera to 720 24p and set the Firestore to pn.

Ok, Jim, but when I set the firestore to PN and the camera P, I push rec and the firestore goes to P. I can't record in PN because of it.

Ok, I think It's ok now.
I re-configured the FS and it works fine.
Thanks!
If anybody knows about the difference between Quicktime PN and P2PN formats, please, tell me, I appreciate.

Preety good. I sove these littlw problems i had and now it's nice. The only problem I have is the size of the drive and the care I need to take with it, because we can't forget it's a hd... but I had no problems like data loss, or stuff yet. I think it's the better cost/ benefit solution for who works with big files in 720p or 1080i formats. ;)
It's obvious i prefere the p2, but here in Brazil it's too expensive for me right now.
