Youtube HD test - Better than Vimeo?

wow, i haven't put anything on youtube in almost 2 years... i almost forgot my account info, but i'm uploading a 720p video right now.

I'm really liking the quality boost on Youtube. I'd go as far as saying it beats Vimeo. Anyone else have HVX clips in HD on Youtube yet?

I put one of my old videos up as a test. I think I'm going to reupload everything again!

This Youtube HD video runs at 5fps on my work computer. I really love these HD streaming videos from Vimeo, and now Youtube, but you need a good computer to see anything above a photo slideshow.

i will still go with vimeo. its sharper and loads up faster. besides the interface for youtube hd still looks plain.

youtube looks better

youtube looks better

youtube seems a little sharper as well as having more contrast.

as far as playback rates go, i believe that's really a matter of server specs, load and available bandwidth.

So, here's a comparison between Vimeo's FLV On2 codec and Youtube's h.264:

The same file was uploaded for both, but this is a pretty static frame. In fact, it's about 1-2 frames apart, as I don't have exact control over the two streams to grab the same frame.

So, it seems that youtube's stream is softer, and it has more contrast. Vimeo's stream is more noisy. However, it terms of actual detail, they are on par, IMHO.
