how is "that part of town"? the theater is on South Main St, the sponsor hotel and music/afterparties venue is on South Flower St. which looks to be about a mile or two from the theater.

The 2-disc Special Edition DVD set of the film was sent to the factory this week for Replication. It is LOADED with features. Sent email to Jarred about making it available on DVXUser.com. Will post more soon. Thank you guys for all your support over the years. This project has been mammoth and all your feedback really helped us along the way.

Special Edition features include:

-The 96 minute final cut of the film in 1.78:1 Widescreen
-English subtitles (movie only)
-Outtakes (7 min)
-12 Deleted/Extended Scenes (18 min)
-"Kirk" short film (4 min)
-Screening Q&A's with Cast, crew, Alzheimer's and care professionals from the Edinboro (31 min) and Guelcher Film Series (42 min)
-Behind the Scenes footage (23 min)
-Crew Outtakes (5 min)
-DVD sleeve and discs feature the artwork of cast member Joshua Werner
-Menus feature the music of Andrew Flatley
 
Congrats. Looks like it was a long yet fruitful road, but now you've got a MOVIE. And a feature length one at that.

I'll keep an eye on this so I can snag a DVD when they're ready.

Erie, PA, August 18, 2009 – Lyons Den Productions is proud to announce the home entertainment release of “Schism”, their award-winning, dramatic feature film. Told from the perspective of the afflicted “Schism” is the story of one man’s decent into the world of Alzheimer’s dementia and has been praised by critics, audiences, and care professionals for its realistic portrayal of the disease, aging, and life in a long term care facility. Beginning September 8th 2009, for the first time, there will be two, region-free DVD options available for purchase.

A two-disc Special Edition DVD set containing the final cut of “Schism” and packed with bonus features, and a single-disc Limited Edition DVD featuring a longer version shown at festivals in 2008. Digital downloads will also be available at select retailers. Online outlets including Amazon.com and store.schismmovie.com are already taking pre-orders for both editions. Care professionals, educators, and Alzheimer’s groups are urged to contact Lyons Den Productions directly for bulk order inquiries.

Writer/director John C. Lyons said of the film’s growing success, “Viewers have really responded to Schism and opened up to us about their own experiences with their loved ones. We are very excited to have the movie available on DVD for people to own and share with others. SYNOPSIS
After a hip injury as a result of a fall, Neil Woodard (Terry T. Smith) enters a nursing facility unhappy with the changes occurring in his life. Initially uncooperative and insistent that he will return home once he recovers, he deals with the reality of no longer being a priority in his family's life, but discovers comfort and friendship in the residents and staff. However, he soon learns that all may not be as it seems. A docu-drama, “Schism” tells the story of a man’s descent into Alzheimer’s dementia. The three year production was shot at several locations in Erie Pennsylvania including Brevillier Village, an operational nursing facility.



Past screenings have included the Guelcher Film Series, Spirit Quest Film Festival, Zero Film Festival Los Angeles (where it won the “Purple Heart Award”), Director’s Chair Festival NYC, Lancaster Area Film Festival, Edinboro Film Series, and classrooms across the country. “Schism” was written and directed by John C. Lyons, produced by Dorota Swies and John C. Lyons, and stars Terry T. Smith, Don Kirsch, and Ruth Thoma Andrews.

Hi man, how've you been? I'm slowly catching back up with the old school crews' news here on the site. Thanks for the FB updates on your projects, much appreciated!

As for "schism" yesterday was the official DVD release date. We did really well on pre-orders at Amazon and through our own online store. I've been trying to hook back up with this site to offer it at discount for you guys but things don't seem to be as easy to make happen as they were back when we did it with our short "Hunting Camp" in '05...
 
I just tried to order the double edition set, however Canada was not an option? I think it might be in your best interest to ship to Canada. I know myself would love a copy.

"schism" won the Best Narrative Feature award at the Spirit Quest Film Festival!

Also just found out we were selected for the Director's Chair Film Festival & Expo! Our film will screen on Saturday October 17th on Staten Island, NY. Don't know the time yet, but some of the lead cast and crew may be attending...

We were also contacted this week about a possible event for the film in NYC. This would obviously be awesome! We'll post more if things come together...

Just found out we've been nominated for Best Actor (Terry T. Smith - our lead), Best Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Sound at the Director's Chair Film Festival (Staten Island, NY - 4:30PM on Saturday October 17th)!
