Does anyone know the cause of noise and jaggies on videos? Any good noise reduction software for mac, or using FCP or Adobe After effects?? also, If I get a 35mm adapter will that help reduce those annoying things? I apologize if its already been covered in other threads but I haven't been able to find an clear answer.

It all depends. Are you talking about once you have edited and exported? Captured footage? What are you viewing on?

The dvx is sd so viewing on an HD monitor or tv is going to be full of noise, that just how it goes. I am not familiar with apple workflow, although id like to be, so I dont know how much help I can be.

Do you have any screen grabs or footage you can post?

I'm new to the apple workflow also, but I hook my camera to Adobe OnLocation if that helps and with the right lighting I can't get rid noise, but it's still there in the darker areas, and if I'm shooting a dramatic scene I need that dark area, but not full of noise.

But the jaggies are still there anyways, sometimes the combination of noise and jaggies is so bad, my $400 handheld camera looks better, no disrespect to the DVX100 thou, the camera is amazing.

It seems to come up more during the capture and after I export it doesn't look that much better. I'll try to get some footage posted I don't have it on this computer.

I'm saving up for one of the 35mm adapters, still want to do more research and I'm hoping that'll help somewhat.

there is going to be noise. Did you check to see if the gain is on? Your going to want the gain at zero.

Seriously invest in the DVX book.

Also go into your scene file settings and turn the detail down to -3 or -4. Turn the coring up to +7. I would also recomend shooting in progressive to avoid any interlacing issues. Just remember its a SD camera its going to have noise, especially in dark areas. One way to fix this is add more light, then add even more light. Which is something your going to have to get used to if you decide to get an adapter.

And the adapter isn't going to help with noise or jaggies per say. It will more often then not add more grain, i.e sg pro. However, I find that the grain helps take take away the noise in the sense that it looks better with grain then just digital noise.

Your export settings are something you are going to want to check as well. I find exporting mpeg 2 720p with the noise sensitivity to reduction helps as well, so does higher bit rates. Experiment, but understand that it's never ever going to be noise free 100 percent and its going to look a heck of a lot better on an SD tv then it's ever going to look on say a 1080p t.v
