Best place to buy HVX170/HVX200?

I bought some product from a guy with a name similar to Ned Grady, or Lee Grady, but can't remember his name, or the place. If anyone knows the name or place and the price for an HPX170, drop me an post.

I think my mind is made up to get the HPX170, just looking for the best overall value from a reputable place.

B&H photo. Perhaps not the friendliest on the phone, but there are no gimmics or return issues with them.

I've strayed away from them twice in the last twenty years to buy cameras and I have regretted it both times.

ECPRO video in Newyork has the best price on the HPX170.
I would go with them for the best price.

They seem to be the only ones discounting.

ask for Angel Vargas.

They also offer a 5 year repair contract.
Better than most.

I got my hpx170 from spec-comm. Their customer service cannot be beat, they've been incredibly helpful and good to me.

I couldn't agree more.
I got my HVX from Spec-comm almost two years ago, and went back to them for my HPX170 as well.

Their prices are competative, and they usually have some great bonus items (like a free battery, etc).

Yes you might find it a bit cheaper elsewhere - but their customer service really cannot be beat. I feel really good knowing that if anything goes wrong while I have this camera I can trust them to take care of it quickly and professionally.

got my HPX170 at Spec too. great service and did the "wobble" fix with Panny parts.
now i need another P2 card.......

We have 4 of these in stock as of today. Feel free to pm me if you are interested. Our pricing on this model may very well surprise you.

Have bought a few bits and pieces from Shawn and can't complain a bit - good prices, fast shipping, great customer service. Right up there with Spec-Comm, can't complain a bit about either of these outfits. B&H I can complain for days about...

I just wanted to clarify:

Panasonic is offering 4 Year extension to the 1 Year standard warranty when you register your product. Must be purchased from an Authorized Reseller, which we are and i think all of the vendors that were mentioned here.

Special five-year free-of-charge repair contract In addition to the excellent reliability and durability of the AG-HPX170, the “special five-year free-of-charge repair contract” provides assurance to its users. The AG-HPX 170 will also significantly contribute to running cost reductions. Simply register your HPX170 on our website after you purchase it, and you will be able to enjoy an additional four-year free-of-charge repair service, in addition to the basic one-year service (a total of five years).

:) I also want to add:

  • We have 2 HPX170s left (it is amazing how fast they sell out, placing another big order)
  • We're having a P2 Show at our Premises with Final Cut Studio 2 workflow. (I'll make an announcement this week)
  • Soon to come, P2 Mini-site for our website.

AVS supply in San Diego. Bought my 200a there. They're official Panasonic, and they beat everyone else by a significant margin. I dealt with a salesperson named Julian and he was very helpful and responsive.

Ditto, Julian is great. I would call them for pricing: 800-284-2288.

Stay away from B&H. I absolutely hate those people. I refuse to buy from anyone rude and they take the cake. Seriously , I can't stand them. Not to mention they aren't even cheaper!

Birns & Sawyer in LA has always been nice and always beaten deals I've seen posted from any of the companies that try to sell on these boards.

What do most people seem to be buying the HPX170 for?

It seems to me like every single place is way overpriced. At $5,695 retail these should be selling for around $4,500. What are you guys paying. I've worked in electronic sales for years and it seems like all these places are overcharging and everyone just wants it so they pay whatever.

Have not heard of anything cheaper than about $4,900.00. I paid $5,199.00 from Spec Comm but they were also including a nice battery and a lens cover/utility thing that is pretty sweet and free shipping.

I have read that authorized dealers cannot sell it below a certain price or at least advertise it below a certain price per Panasonic. When I was in electronics retail, Mitsubishi was known for this, if you sold their products under their acceptable prices, you received no co-op advertising dollars. Always struck me as a borderline barely legal way for maufacturers and distributors to get around price-fixing laws.
