BlueRidge Pictures Presents "Daily Special"

My grandmom would have never done this!! great ending. The interlacing was a little much but Mine had some too. Not on my computer. but after it uploaded I saw it. Oh well. Good job it was fun.

Enjoyable film. The audio could use a little fine tuning and the video came across interlaced. The language....oh my... this was very funny. i can't think of anything more entertaining than seeing a Granny cutting some dude up with a chainsaw! KUDOS to your team!

I'll be honest, technically it's not that well done, but I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! This is the single hardest heartiest laugh I've had this entire fest! VERY "Tales From the Crypt" conceptually (a show of which I am a HUGE fan of). This might sound bad, but I'd love to see it redone with some money behind it and a bunch of seasoned techies workin' your crew. This was so d**m funny. I wish I'd thought of it. Great job.

The most effective plot switch-up so far. Love how the pic transitioned from a ‘tired sigh’ into a clever play on audience expectations. Loved the three actresses. Saw what you were doing with the static shots and the move to the handle-held helter-skelter camera moves. Didn’t work for me, but I got what you were going for. Then the bed scene was just fun.

I’d like to have had the movie end on the “who’s the ***** now” line. Felt like the ending dragged after than. Whatever is in our mind about what gonna happen is probably a lot more gory than what actually took place. Plus, I felt like it was more complete without the recipe on the table. I mean, we understand that they’ve done it before. All in all, a good one.

p.s. You’ve got some interlacing issues throughout the movie. Audio editing cuts roughly too.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I edited it myself and I'm not an editor. I'll probably have another one of the crew re-edit and color correct. There just wasn't enough time. But hey, any and all critical comments are welcome! It will definitely help with the re-edit.

Oh, and is there a setting to reduce that interlacing? I used QT from FCP to compress.

cheers,

JP

As for the interlacing, it could be any number of things. Can you give us more information about your editing process and production workflow?

Hi Kyle,

I use FCP latest version which I think is 5.04. Used Quicktime to compress, (but not Quicktime pro) I'm at work, so I can't see what my specific settings were, but I'm guessing that running it through QT Pro would have cleaned that up quite a bit.

I'm going back to do a more refined edit and tighten it up a bit.

thanks!

Jon

OMG. Ha ha. That was the best laugh of the fest for me. Love the Evil Dead 2 style granny shot.

I was cringing at the fbombs flying around the older women. Then, it all made sense in the end. Nice twist. Great actors, very natural.

The technical aspects have been covered, so I won't get into that. I have to agree that ending on the blood splattered wall would have been perfect. The body gore and the last few shots seemed to linger.

Overall, very entertaining. I can't stop saying "Who's the *****, now?" I'm looking forward to your next film.

LOL! Kudos to all the women involved. They played their parts really well. Especially the chainsaw wielding grandma.

Great story and score. Really well executed minus the technical issue already covered.

Well done!

Mike

Thanks Richie. I gotta give full kudos to Mike on that shot, I didn't want to do handheld on it, but he convinced me. Interestingly enough, I met Sam Raimi several years back when I was still living in LA. Super nice guy!

Interesting film man. I laughed out loud when you did the quick cut to the robber stuffing mashed potatoes in his mouth. Nice twist at the end. It was pretty funny throughout. Any critique I could offer would be redundant what with everybody else's comments. You know the issues with the film already but I wanted to tell you that it was quite enjoyable and that you did a good job. Cheers!

A very funny black humor film. I enjoyed it. I loved the character of the old lady with the power saw and also how she was dressed. Compliments - nice film! :)

Thanks Pauly! I appreciate the feedback. I haven't gotten your film yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing it.

best,

Jon

I wasn't too into this film until they fed him roast, and at that point I was really interested to find out what happened next. The shot where they're looking over him and the one lady licks her lips is priceless! I think that the beginning could use some tightening in the editing.

Good job!

Thanks John, yeah it can definitely use some tightening up there in the beginning. I've been getting some great technical feedback on this one. I haven't seen your short yet, but it's on my list for tonight.

best,

Jon

Thanks Dick! I'm doing a re-edit on some clips and the audio, where did you find the audio off, or was it just the levels?

thanks again,

Jon
