The Greatest Miracle

just finished unloading the bed of the truck after returning home from our second day of shooting. it went pretty well, again we didn't quite make as many shots as I had hoped, but thats why I have a fourth day of shooting in the mix,

Today we finished all the exteriors, and wrapped one of the actors, and began shooting some of the heavier dialogue, next Monday will be didicated to the dialogue, with Wednesday for picking up missed shots.

Huy Vu my Dp has a great eye, and is doing a wonderful job, as is Alan Chan, he is giving me some of the cleanest audio I've ever had.

Today we finally used the Hypercam, a gaffer friend of mine Nichole worked it. she did a great job, and was happy to work out her back muscles lol.

the moco shot is lookeing really good.

will keep you all informed as I can, I sure Alan and Hoy will as well.

Nice Moco shot!

I assume that's a combination of two shots? One without actor and one with? Can you explain the process of "fading in" the actor in you editing program?

Really glad to see that you're still making this!

soon I'm a little swamped with shooting Miracle, post on burn it down, and my houdini class which I've all but forsaken for Miracle lol.

I'm glad you guys like this shot.

yeehanow, yes it is two shots, one with out the actors, one with both actors, well actually the other one did have the girl as well but not the priest, however since I used a traveling alpha matte to basically do a split screen, she in shot one was cut out, and replaced with herself from shot two, on the otherside, or outside that matte, I started with shot one that had just her and no priest, and faded into shot 2, that way I didn't have to deal with retiming to have them interact.

I hope this answers your question or rather I hope I explaned it well enough

Second Day of Soundie:

Weather.
Sunny Wednesday. The sky was angel blue, dashes of cloud streaks near the horizon. Quiet neiborhood except for the firestation's morning drills reverberating from across the street. The air was clear and chilly. Noon time became a little dreary. Patches of clouds came rolling in, casting a few shadows and changing the temperature of the environment. By nightfall, the sky became clear.

Travel.
I realized that I had to pick up something from a friend of mine in South San Francisco, thus causing a delay in arriving to Kristen's place. Taffic became incredibly hard to get through. Rush hour traffic kicked in. The Bay Bridge was in a state of 50mph, nothing more and nothing less. Got to the church safely. After wrap, it took us exactly one hour to get back home. Rush hour traffic again!

On set.
EXT. Both Kristen and I arrived on set at around 9:50AM. Majority of the equipments had been unloaded, still setting for the first shot. I quickly took care of Kristen and she went inside to set herself down, not thinking about unloading my equipment. Joined with Huy and fixed a few lights here and there while Nicole carried out most of the other gear. The EXT shot was simple, except for the water fountain outside that was continuously roaring every second of our presence. Not a big deal in my case. I realized that I could maybe record 2 minutes of just the fountain and I did. Just for post-production sakes. Another BIG problem. We encountered a generator that was turned out from time to time. It was probably humming at 60-80Hz. So I adjusted my microphone position with the rear lobe pointing toward the generator. 90% problem solved. The generator still haunted me, but majority of it was fine.

INT. The church is like a restroom, but without tiles. It's reflective, but in a good and natural way. Since majority of the dialog was an easy 2 shot with closeups, I thought maybe I'll just boom the entire scene. No mic stands, 3-5 minute takes. You know me. 30 minute takes are forbidden in my land, on my set. Anything's possible. The dialog was quiet, needed to ride the levels higher. I wasn't sure if things will get ugly, but YEAH it got ugly for 2 seconds. There was this one line where Shelly yelled out loud after a quiet line and that ruined it. Another take on Monday for sure. Sounds good, sounds good.

Mood.
Calm. Serene. Unsure. Unnoticed. Anxious. Embarrassed. Hungry. Fustration. Proud. Emotional. High-Spirited.

hungry? hey te food was better this time lol. sounds like you probably got stuck up at the coldacot(spelling) tunnels, Me, Nichole and Huy also got stuck there. anyway were getting there, we should be able to get everything done by Thursday evening.

Thanks for ter hard work and goood words on the project, your a good man Charlie Brown.

A young woman has been raped, and is pregnant, as shes very young, and has a wonderfull life ahead of her, her familly and friends feel abortion is her best option, fear is leaning her to this option as well, but she seeks guidance in an empty cathedral, only to find it not empty, an Angle poses as a priest and gives her a sympathetic ear.

The real question is do we get that point at the end when we realize there was no priest there and that church is due for demolition - no one's been there for ten years, or something like that. You should do something cool like have the priest mention angels or something. Or maybe he wear's hat with a feather in it and at the end the feather is the only thing left when she finds out about the church. I like that kind of thing. That always adds the warm feeling in the end.

actually in the end everything around the angels turns to a bright white either, and we see their animated wings in full bloom. at least thats the plan.
