I don't know what Zacuto is thinking, but this is ridiculously big...

I dunno. If you consider that you can still use your other cameras with it, it's not that bad! I mean... pop on a DVX/HVX/EX-1/RED whatever and it'll still work! So it would be a great investment for someone with multiple cameras. It'd also be a great investment for someone who wants to potentially go handheld with these cameras and wants proper balance and stability

The reason it's big

The reason it's big

The reason it' big is because it is designed to be able to see the on-screen monitor on the camera while shooting and not have to use an additonal monitor. To do this you have to get your head kind of far back to see the screen without being crosseyed. In this image we are showing an additional monitor but it's not necessary but it is an option.

If you want a matte box and FF and want to go handheld with this or any other style of camera (it really makes no difference), I know of no other way then a system like this. But I'm open to suggesstions?

Sure, this particular camera the Nikon D90 at this point is a web video camera only. But many people like us for example are making videos showing how to use our products for our Zacuto YouTube channel and this fits the bill fine for that use. Businesses can make good use of these cameras for training purposes, both photo and video. Schools can teach filmmaking on these. They get the shallow DOF and it makes a great film training device. The finished product doesn't really need to be that great for training. Web news outlets will be using cameras to take video and images for the web.

It's the first generation of these cameras and huge improvements will follow. When the video picture quality improves, this will revolutionize industries like broadcast remote reporting, wedding and event shooters, independent cinematography and more. I'm sure within a year or two this will be the future of video/photography.
