Calls From The Führerbunker

Mr. Mike!

Yours is my favorite thus far! (and will probably remain my favorite..hehe)

Love the story and the twist at the end. I think you nailed it.

The only thing I'm not sure about (and maybe if I watch it again, it'll clear itself up for me) was what the main characters motivation was for getting on the phone in the first place. Something happened in the bathroom and he got all pissed off... I wasn't quite sure why. Like I said, I'll watch it again.. I think i just missed something.

Great work man!

Thanks, man! I really appreciate the high praise.

SPOILERS!

Well, while moping for what must have been half an hour is so he is hounded by the constant ringing of the phone. When he finally breaks down and answers it he hears something that peaks his interest. Did he just hear what he thought he heard?

After that in the bathroom he hears the ringing again and heads straight for it. He is just annoyed at the guard that gets in his way. :)

I loved it. Very funny. That was a watchmen reference with the screwdriver, right?
Only thing that brought me out of it was the couch. Looked very non-1968.
Very nice work though otherwise :) One of my faves so far.
I'll leave better comments after I've had a chance to watch the rest and re-watch yours.

LOL! Glad you liked it! That couch is damn old, my brother got it from someone's grandma's house. Could be early seventies though. :)

Glad you got the nod to The Watchman. :)

Thanks for watching.

This was a lot of fun. Spookyish and twilighty. A well told story with a great punch in the end.

I would have preferred color over B&W an wonder what the motivation was to shoot it this way ? I would liked ot have seen some more sophistication in the cameras eye but that's nitpicking.

The story was solid so those other elements will grow in time. This is the second time one of your films grabbed me.

The premise of this could be a feature.

Question ?

Who was the dude in the bathroom with him ? Little confused on that one.

Thanks, man! Glad you really liked it.

Black and White was key for this one. The time period and where they were just called for it in my opinion. I think it works really well. Especially considering where and when the calls were coming from. That and I wanted it to be a Twilight Zone episode of old.

The guard was a night guard at the base, just like the guard outside. There's actually quite a bit more of him that had to hit the cutting room floor due to the six minute limit. You'll see more of him in the Director's Cut.

Glad you liked it man!

Sueeeet Michael. One of my favourites.

Glad you did white letters.
The Phone ring while the moping shpuld be louder, didn´t get it at the first time.
I realy loved the watchmen reference (screwdriver).
I found the guard inthe washroom a bit confusing.

Otherwise - AWESOME!

Mike, you keep growing man and that is awesome to watch. This one had the feel of twilight fest. Loved the period B&W. Love the music as a companion to the piece. You make really good use of a cool set.

SPOILER************** I really feel the end would have more punch if it you brought the old man back for a confrontation rather than a flashback. old man comes back, is told what is happening, kills young man, and then eats a wienershnitzel or something like that. Other than that very well done.

Thanks, Frank! Much appreciated.
The base isn't empty, even at night.
Just a random guard like the one in the opening. You'll see a lot more of him the the DC.

Always a pleasure when you drop by! Thanks so much.
Just deleted the spoiler.

I love endings like that, it was written that way of course.
I also wanted to get away from killing someone every fest. I was harped on for that a bit last fest.

Thanks so much! This forum is great and I'm trying to learn as much as I can while I go.

Glad you liked it. :)

Great film! I liked the B&W..really made it Twilighty (?). The camera work and grading were well done. Really liked the score & mix. Good job with the location sound in that tunnel! I've never been a fan of subtitles and I'm glad you went with white...they looked fine, but at a couple points there were too many words on the screen at once. Too many to read and watch the action on the screen at the same time IMHO. I missed the ringing when he was mopping the first pass, so I guess that should be raised in the mix. (maybe make it progressively louder each time he gets closer to us in the frame?)

I loved the location and only wish we could have seen more of it in the film.

That's it...another wonderful film from Michael here...GREAT job!!

Nice work Mike! Loved that ending. Everything looked great from the B&W to your location

Great work, good luck.

Thanks! I really appreciate the review. The ringing is a tad low there, still, it's supposed to be down the hall and not in the same room. It gets louder during the next scene in the bathroom. BTW, everyone should use headphones for this one! Herman and Rutger did a pretty great mix. Not to be missed.

I really enjoyed this film! I liked the black and white feel and the score. The old man did a fantastic job- he was really funny. I like the line about the toilet on the 3rd floor. Actually, my whole family is German and he reminds me a bit of my grandparents. (And good job with the German, it was right on!) :)

Thanks! Johni really nailed the role and it was a pleasure working with him.

I owe all the German authenticity to Susanne and Jason Horncastle.

Cheers!

Woah! To tell a story within six minutes... you have definitely done that to perfection. This production was extremely tight and ultimately, I was entertained. You have hit a home run in my opinion Mike.
