Mac (Leopard) can't see my HPX 170...

hooked up with the 6 pin, 1394 but my 170 will not mount. I read the manual, checked the utility, start up. Nada. Any tips, help anyone?

What am I doing wrong??
 
did you try setting the menu item listed for connection type. you can switch between USB and firewire, if you have USB selected fw won't work
 
try downloading the newest drivers from pannys website if you haven already. that may be the problem too.

I'm assuming you mean menu item listed on the 170? I'll look this up. Cheers, mate.

I will most certainly visit Panny, thanks again. I fell asleep last night in frustration. Good night's rest though. Thank you.
 
You shouldn't have to load drivers just to connect vis Firewire (I know you don't for the HVX200). In the Menu, you will have a choice of "1394 Device" or "1394 Host". You want "Device" (according to the 170 manual, same as the 200 knowledge.)

Also make sure the camera is set in this mode and Off, before you connect the cable.
