Prices to cheap to be true

Ive been shopping around looking for the best price on an A1 and i have come across some very interesting websites that seem to be selling the camera for way under what the price should be. I was just wondering if anyone out there has ever purchsed from these sites or if anyone has any information on these sites.

Liars and scammers. Search around and look at resellerratings.com. These fake prices amount to nothing more than "step into my parlor, said the spider to the fly."

It's a simple concept:

You add the camera and check out. An e-mail will be sent to you stating that to confirm the order you must call a specific number.

You call the number and the saleperson on the other line tries to get you to buy additional accessories, crap warranties, etc.. If you refuse, they become irritated with you. Many times they say "okay, fine. We we will process your order" but never confirm it.

On top of that, there is always an issue of whether the model is authentic or not.

Ive finally ordered my XH A1 after going through site after site that all turned out to be a scam. Its the classic bait and switch tactic that they will use on you claming you cant use the camera without this or without that and you need to also purchase these assesories. My favorite one is a site called soniccameras.com, they are the funniest claming to sell the camera for $999. When you call they always have a different story i would type them all out, casue i did call 5 times, but it would be too long. Anyways if anyone is looking to have fun or is pissed and wants to ***** someone out hard you should call them and have some fun with it.........Cant wait to get the A1 though!!!

My short story is that I ended up buying a new A1 off of ebay from a random company for right around $3,000 shipped with a "crap pack" assortment of useless, well... crap. Thankfully I am an intelligent person (or so I think) and immediately filled out any and all CANON warranty information. After testing the camera there ended up being internal defects with the chip, so I called Canon, gave my information and they not only sent be a shipping box and label to return the defective camera, they also sent me a donor camera for a couple days until my A1 was repaired (which ended up being a week's total repair/transit time).

All in all, I cam out ahead I would say. I only paid $3000 for a camera with a solid manufacturer's warranty and cashed in on it immediately. Granted I think the company I purchased the camera from might be selling defective products, but that might be jumping to conclusions. Just be careful and use logic/reasoning when making a purchase.

I bought my XHA1 last year for $2850 (Canadian) brand new off of Ebay from a powerseller. Some things aren't too good to be true.

I can only second Barry´s statement: stay off these cheap scam sites! I ran into another one called globalmediapro....russian characters with an attitude...they threaten anybody who writes bad about them....just wait...;-)

Yeah, I saw a hvx on one of these sites awhile back for $2500, I called wanting to have it shipped COD to a business address and they hung up on me. So my roomates and I called several times a week just to bug them. We asked if we could pick it up, and they also hung up on us. beware of Craigslist as well, I've seen xl2's and dvx's for $800 replied to the poster and got the "I just moved to England/ pay by Royal Mail scam" Just be carefull. Some of these clowns also advertise magazines.
