Steadicam/Glidecam and Cranes or HPX500

End of the year shopping spree...

I'm looking for reviews/advice on either a steadicam (or the cheaper glidecam v20) for the HPX500 as well as cranes (Maybe the Kessell)

Anyone have good or bad experiences with any of the above?

Bought a Steadicam FlyerLE for my HPX500. Have not added all the possible geegaws (follow focus, notably), but it is just within the limit of the FlyerLE (19 lbs). The post does need to be extended a fair ways, so it's not compact as with a lighter cam. While the 500 does fly like an angel on it, I wished they'd made the design good for say, 23 lbs.... just a bit more "wiggle room". Now, put on any of the "handycam" units, and it's off to the races! Can fly one of those all day without tiring.

It does take time to rig & balance, so don't view it as a "throw it on & shoot" deal.... consider the time you'd take to switch on & off a crane as similiar. BUt the freedom.... oh Lord.....

**DO** take a Steadicam workshop. Stop bad habits before they start!

i currently own a glidecam 4000pro with x10 dual support arm, was keen to know if i can use it with a hpx500 with Canon j11 lens a swit batt about 500gms in weight. i know may be the glidecam is not designed to support such a weight but may be if one modify it to some extent//..

before i sold it, i was flying my 500 on a flyer, the older model, not the LE. i had to remove the evf and use two batteries on the sled but it flew great and i still had a bit of room to add a remote follow focus if needed.

as far as crane goes, i tried my 500 on the glidecam camcrane 200 and it was a bit too heavy for it. recently i used a losmandy porta-jib with the 500 and it was perfect.
