Which bag to get for the hmc 150 ?

It's a Porta Brace RB-4 Extra Large Run Bag. Below is my original post about the bag for B&H link.

Those 16x9 inc bags look great. I'd get the small one which is still pretty big. Great that you can fit the camera with mattebox. That is hard to find in smaller bags and a bag that isn't wide enough definitely snags the mattebox!

I use what I had lying around, a porta brace large run bag that I got from a TV station, it fits my entire audio kit as well. It's nice to carry cam+audio in one bag but it is a _BIG_ bag. I bump into things carrying it, etc.

Yeah, I keep two chargers, 3 batteries, mattebox and french flag, 4x4 filters, wireless audio kit, ME66 shotgun mic, headphones, HDMI and component cables, even a monopod that fits in the side pocket although that may be the first thing to go when I try to slim down the bag (it's heavy, imagine that!)

Mind you, that bag is _big_ and maybe the next size down would be less unwieldy. Here is a picture of my Gitzo boom pole not quite fitting into the side pocket."Missed it by _that_ much!"

Hmmm shoot ,maybe I can use it as a walking stick.
I was looking at this rode ntgII kit from B&H ,probably the sameone as Ilauzirika mentioned .I cant find the minimumlength ot the Boom pole that comes with this kit.
Will this fit. I dont want get a larger bag.
I would like to carry audio and video in one bag, especially if I have to travel abroad or inland.

A quick scan of boom poles at B&H reveals several that would fit inside my bag's side pocket. For me the biggest reason to have a bag this big is the extra width to fit the HMC150+mattebox. I would consider selling this bag to get something a little smaller and mattebox-specific to be honest since I don't reaally need to carry a boom pole or monopod. Interested parties can PM me... because I'm eyeing that 16x9inc Small Bag. :Drogar-Love(DBG):

I have two that I really like and having two cameras I can bring both bags.. or I can fit both cams into the larger wheeled bag.

I have the Kata dolly bag and it's simply awesome. They make the best inside inserts of any bag I've ever seen with more comparments and options than anything. Even comes with a laptop case and I picked it up.. as a store model for 150 bucks.. So I highly recommend that.

can't find it online...

2nd bag I have and use all the time is the lowepro backpack. It hauls tons of stuff and i look like a dorky camper.. It doesn't scream expensive camera bag like the Kata bags and such.. just looks like a dork and there's nothing better than a backpack for outdoor shoots here in FL.

i highly recommend both of them.... and I think that you can't skimp on a bag that carries and protects all of your gear... and I'm also not one of those dudes that likes a pelican case... unless I'm shipping it or it's going into a grip truck.. Then I'll bust that case out, but otherwise that's a giant albatros...

Yeah working out of a pelican case is not realistic. Lugging one to the shoot is bad enough. A decent bag is nice to have nearby to throw stuff into etc. A pelican large enough to hold camera + audio would be so big it wouldn't fit in my car. I pride myself on having a production company that fits in an Acura, lol

I just picked up a Cinebags HD25 Revolution backpack and must say this is pretty much the bag i have been looking for. So far seems pretty well built maybe not as well as my old Kata 207 but this is much lighter and not as obtrusive IMO.

I have a stormcase with wheels, best purchase i'v done (after the camera itself). But in the future I'll be picking a lowepro backpack, cause the stormacase and the backpack have different uses.

try looking at this one...

i just got my hmc150 and this case should be in in a couple days.
my logic for this choice was:
hard case = protection
it should be large enough to also hold (if my math is right):
a matte box
a letus35 extreme w/ rails system (once i save up a few more ducats)
my clapper (old school film guy. i need a clapper) and white card/color cards
batteries, memory cards, and cords
filters
i'll have a better idea on a couple days once she comes in, but it looks like it should all fit

I use Cinebags production bags for my DVX and HVX, which hold everything and a little more; for the HMC, I wanted something a bit smaller since In most cases it would be coming along as a second camera and wouldn't need quite so much extra material.

In the end I bought a Kata CC-192, which is really nice for the HMC and all the basic accessories, plus a little more. While not quite a hard case, it's pretty crush-proof; has nice padding inside and a strap to hold the camera in place, and a big outside pocket. Less than $100... I'd recommend it to anyone who wants something small and light, but more than big enough!

Hi there,

I use the stormcase im2500 and it really feels safe. Here is a photo of the inside.

I also thought that the first case I shuld buy was a hard case (I prefer to have my 3.440€ investemnt in a hard case). Next year or in the following one I'll buy a backpack for those long walking shooting days.

I don't know if I already posted this but I love the Ogio Ty Video 2. Plenty of room, comfortable, and safe. I have my hmc, letus extreme, rails, all accesories and extras with room to spare. And best part is, the bag was like $150.
