List of theatrical films shot on this camera?

Someone on another board mentioned Cloverfield. Unfortunately, Cloverfield was supposed to look like shaky video.

Is there a list of films that pass for 35mm? I'm considering which format to use when I shoot my CGI special effect reliant feature. There will be indoor and outdoor, night and day both, and I don't know if the hvx-200 can hack it.

The quickness of the response is more amazing than the lineup at the other end of the link. Not seeing anything I've heard of, except perhaps Jackass number 2 (which I don't expect to look very cinematic).

Can anyone recommend a beautiful film with scenic shots produced with this camera?

Theatrically released? Not yet. But watch Hallows Fest and the upcoming TimeFest; the majority of those will be shot on the HVX and many of them are gorgeously cinematic.

To put it this way - every digitally enhanced shot that required VFX work in cloverfield was shot with the cinealtas F23.

Then again, every digitally shot scene that did not required VFX work in Cloverfield was shot with the HVX 200. Isn’t that great. And no 35mm adapter to boot!

Could we get a head's up before HVX films screen please? I would have loved to have seen this in LA.

The feature documentary "Helvetica" was shot on the HVX:

Released theatrically last September, nominated for an Independent Spirit Award, and will be broadcast on PBS this fall. Blu-ray disc just came out last month.

They actually didn't use the viper much. Since it has a green cast to the footage. And didn't like the sodium vapor lights.

Up the Yangtze, is theatrically released and is touring the country as this is written. It was just in LA. It was one of the first films picked up out of Sundance.

Some really beautiful images.

Another film that won a Jury award at Sundance "Anywhere USA," was also shot with an HVX200.

Don't forget the Duplass brother's film 'Baghead' - also one of the few that got picked up at Sundance this year. It should be out in theaters sometime in August.
Also shot on the HVX200.

Check out any work shot by Vincent Pascoe. After you check out his footage...you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. The camera is amazing...but this man has a talent for cinematography. Great guy, great DP.

Hi Jan,

Is there a discussion anywhere about how the HVX was used and any accessories used (monitors, support... etc)?

I crewed for a company that was shooting several films for release domestically on cable and we shot using the HVX-200. Having been on sets with much more 'cinematic' cameras, I was unsure of what to expect (I was a 2nd AC on this one) when I arrived and we began shooting, but I was really impressed when they screened some of the footage.

Now, that being said, we were using Brevis lens adaptors, Chrosziel matte boxes, pro-grade filters, etc, however, the lenses we were using were Nikon consumer-grade lenses, so I definitely think it is possible to get great, cinematic images using an HVX-200... it just requires a few more toys to really maximize the results.
