It's an 'instant buy' sale on ebay. It comes with the camera, brand new, along with:

-two cases
-a tripod
-wide angle lens
-telephoto lens
-3 piece filter kit
-10 miniDV tapes
-lens cleaning kit

All this for $2,198.00. It's on Amazon for the camera by itself for $500. I thought this deal would be a steal. I've been using a consumer miniDV JVC camera that I got for $700 back in 2004. I just turned 20 and thought I should step up my game, buy a better camera and make films to send to local film festivals. I did some research and the DVX100B is the most affordable camera with the highest feedback and probably the most optimistic fanbase. I think it'd be my best bet for what I'm looking for.

So is this a good way to start? The 10 tapes alone is an amazing addition, since two miniDV tapes usually go for $14.

Thanks guys!

Movie Dude, the old saying that if something seems to good to be true, it usually is, applies here. That outfit is in New York, center of online scams and gray market merchandise. Be very, VERY careful what you get yourelf into. Reputable dealers are selling the DVX100B for right around $2400 for the camera alone. I cannot see any way that an honest dealer can sell it for less, especially with all those accessories added. Be afraid! Be very afraid!

I've been looking at the same same camera recently. That looks a good deal.

I know what you mean Paladin, I would be dubious of paying for most things £300 plus on ebay, although to be fair to the seller they have sold over 45000 items with only a few negative responses.

It's up to you Movie Dude... but you're making me want one even more now!! Thanks for that :-/ :-)

It says they have 20 odd in their stock, so you could wait for a couple to be sold, then check the feedback to see if others got theirs ok and in working order etc. I've done that before.

WARNING! Here is the deal with them. I bought my DVX a little over a month ago originally from the same company on Ebay. I was all excited about the great deal until after they got my credit card number they told the DVX's they sell are imports and have NO US warranty. Also even though you are buying it on Ebay they require you to call them with a credit card number and when you do they HARD UPSELL you all types of other stuff including a warranty. So I canceled my order and bought it on Amazon. I hope this helps.

You sure? I e-mailed them about the warranty and they said one year is included from Panasonic.

They also mention on the page that it's not gray market, but that's what I was worried most about. The feedback is just so positive. But still, I don't want to waste any money.

Another way to get a good deal is to buy a well cared for used DVX. Check your local craigslist, or the marketplace section here...buy locally from a pro who you know took care of the camera.

It's a damn good way to learn a lesson in economics from the School of Hard Knocks.
Buy from a store with an established reputation, or Newegg, or watch the MarketPlace as Sigamy suggested. If you want to maximize your dollar mileage, start with the camera first. Then look at accessories you actually need. Be patient and be careful!.

I bought my DVX100B from Newegg in March of this year. I ordered on line late one Thursday night and, early the next morning, a Newegg rep called me at home to verify that I had actually ordered the camera and that it was, indeed, me who ordered it. I liked this extra step to insure that I was not being ripped off by someone illegally using my credit card.

The following Tuesday afternoon, my new DVX100B arrived in all its pristine, perfect glory. So, if you ask me, you can't go wrong with Newegg.

I'll vouch fpr newegg as well. That's where I got my DVX100B a couple years back.

Wow--thats impressive. I don't think you can go wrong with them.
just for the sake of perspective, I felt I got a really good deal years ago at $2879 after rebate.

probably is 2 good 2 b true. i'd rather pay a little more from an authorized dealer than pay less and be worried.

there are alot of dvx's in good condition for sale on the site right now from users. and they usually come with other stuff. check the marketplace

Guess I'll stick to Newegg then.

Yeah go with newegg, I have bought hundreds in computer hardware from them and they come through every time. Don't be worried that you didn't get that deal on ebay, all the accessories that come with the camera are terrible and useless anyway.
