HMC150 questions answered...

Shriggs the man klap
With that said I wont be able to view his clips for atleast 3 days.
My internet connection is down.So if its possible can someone post some screengrabs to get me through the weekend .
Thanks again Shrigg .

Yup, it was the ND filter. Remember I've used mainly Sonys and am not a DVX or HVX shooter at all so I was kinda like, "duh what button do I push ?" the whole time I was shooting this stuff, lol

They should be available in South Africa in about 3 weeks...
Got a price also...

hoping its the pal/ntsc switchable 151

Vegas problem solved (Multiple Frame Rates)

Vegas problem solved (Multiple Frame Rates)

I'm getting smooth playback on my new laptop with Vegas. My camera just got delivered. I gotta get out of work and get some of my own footage!!!!!

DUH!! This is my first time working with a frame rate other than DV @ 30fps. I had multiple rate clips on the timeline. So.. to evaluate these in Vegas, I have to create a new project, picking the SPECIFIC project template that MATCHES the clip frame rate. My sputtering video went away.

Is this the same on other editing software? Or can multi rate clips be on the same timeline?

Kurt, I'd still like to know what the specs are of ur laptop if u can.:dankk2:

thank you to put all these footages here!
i don't know if i did things wrong on my mac. i tried to capture with fcp (dvcprohd). I've been reading them on vlc too. And i've got the same result which is a bit disapointing. I really hope that i made a mistake. In the clips 15 to 18 for example, the skies are terrible, banding noise in the upper screen then blue noisefree sky suddenly. And pretty soft footages. Someone else notice that? What should i do to watch it in the best way on my mac?

Just came in the mail! Opening it =]

What comes with it? Do you get a battery and a SDHC card? Basically what additional items did you need to buy to start shooting?

I'm considering ordering one. However BH has holidays coming up, so I need to get the order in this weekend. I'd like to make sure I order everything I need.

We've got several DVX100 shoots starting next Friday. I like to bring along the HMC150 to start playing with it.

Thanks for any info.

My laptop is a Intel Core2Duo T8300 @2.4G w/ 3Gig RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT. I'm running Vista Home Premium on it. I had hoped to put XP Pro on it when I bought it, but (I'm ashamed to admit it) I kinda like Vista. It's actually snappier than my desktop (also Core 2, but an E6600).

Glad you figured out the framerate thing!

My new HMC battery is charging as we speak! I'll try to post a few clips later this evening. I hope to answer a few questions I (and a few others) have about something. But I'm gonna wait till I have footage to explain.

Mine had the small battery, charger, mic clamp, shoulder strap, remote and remote battery and two set of ferrite clips (apparently for HDMI cables).

I bought a nice UV lens and put that on first thing! I also ordered 2x16G Transend cards. I'm "borrowing" a 16G card until mine show up.

Hey mods, I don't want to sound like a broken record here, but when do we get an official HMC-150 thread on the main page?

BTW, thanks for all your work.

Much appreciated! Thanks!

I'm so excited about this camera I probably would have forgotten the UV filter.

kurt- can’t wait to see your footage. When posting it are you also able to zip the files straight from the card (its the only way my blu-ray can see them)

I have watched shriggs clips about 20 times each so far. Panasonic should be proud of this camera! What little noise I have seen is very fine, grain-like, and not the typical chroma noise you expect from low light video. And you have to strain to see it. And I am watching this on a 42" Bravia 1080p monitor straight from the card.

Only real drawback I could find was some vertical smearing (that’s when you wish it was cmos):)

Well those nighttime headlights shots were just begging for CCD smear :Drogar-Love(DBG):

I should mention that none of this stuff is what I would call good shooting, I pretty much just turned the camera on and hit the red button, lol. The prerecord came in handy for catching live action of the birds, the little bastards wouldn't come when I was standing near the doorway so I left the area and watched on a remote monitor with the camera's infrared remote at the ready.

So everyone likes the 1080 modes better? I think I do too. But it ALL looks so nice! :Drogar-Dum(DBG):

so these clips are with "straight out tha box" settings? So the tweaking hasnt even begun! Mwa ha ha

BTW, were your 24p shots at 1/48 shutter? Looked a tad bit "strobier" than the DVX

I stand corrected.
I'm not seeing the "wavey" effect on the 24p's at home on my bigger monitor so I guess it was my laptop.

I still like the 720 60p's a little better however.

I should get mine next week.... I hope.

I think this should be an instant classic. I could not pay 4k plus for a camera but this quailty at this price is without question - a real steal!!!

As stated earlier in the thread (i know its a long one) but Toast 9 will transcode the MTS files to any codec you have on your machine. Thats probably the easiest way i know of right now. VLC may play them too.

I see other people have answered your question and they have correctly. Glad I ordered a memory card with it cause it didnt come with one and I think the battery isn't very long lasting.

(refering to the guy who asked what it came with... i quoted him wrong oops new to this lol)

Question of my own though.. I'm using final cut pro 6.0.4 and have absolutely no idea how to capture the avchd clips.... help? =X

Also what's a uv filter for this camera? Is it necessary?

Nope, shot everything at high shtter speed around 1/500 to 1/1000
definitely would improve the look at 1/48 I'm sure
