hi i have a canon xha1

i have lots of clips on a tape and when i sample them, i am losing the first 5-10 seconds of each one, so if the actor walks into frame after some lead time, the clip is actually starting when he's already there

it hasnt always been this way with my camera and fcp

this is pretty recent

any suggestions or theorieS?

Would be REALLY grateful... I'm losing the meat of several takes due to this. If nobody has any idea that's cool but if anyone does have any thoughts, pretty please let me know...

Didi you try with the capture now option from the beginning of the tape, or at least a few seconds before the beginning of the clip you want ot ingest?

Go into fcp, pull down the final cut menu and select user preferences, and halfway down on the right, for "on timecode break" set it to warn after capture.

Your tape will capture completely with no gaps, but if you ever have to recap, it might not be frame accurate. When people say hdv is not a "pro" format, this is what they mean.
