What 5D MkII 30p really means to filmmaking...

just read the blog... seems these are taken from the video clips!!!!

Thats amazing... for such low-light these grabs could be shot on RED... could fool me at least!!!... I really thought these were proper 21MP stills.

Now we just need to view them at FULL 1080P RES!... But judging from the super detail on a low-lit road I have to say that this looks COMPLETELY LEGIT AND PROPER!

Someone said the 5D video had to be shrunk to 700 lines to look decent???... WHAT THE ??????

Look Up.....

That 1st Pic looks like the background was photoshoped Blurr.

If the last Pic was from a video. Well then that 3.5 thousand might be worth it
if they Realize 24P was a necessity not a luxury.

Jesus, man! Those stills look absolutely freaking incredible!
Like the D90, this camera is not perfect; but come on! We're witnessing something REALLY special here! This is the future.

I agree. It's one of those "look at this amazing shot!" but It's pretty clear it's been worked on and does not look convincing at all. The dress on the girl (3rd pic) looks very strange too (still hoping I'm wrong for some reason). This Vincent Laforet really knows how to hype the camera.. for a guy with a shotgun to his head! His whole blog looked mighty bought if you ask me. I mean who puts a link up to the manufacturer of the screen he's using? Just wondering.

Guys, This has to be fake Again.

Canon would of released this at the announcement.
This VIncent Laforet seems strange.

This not hard proof unless Canon is backing it.
So I would love to be wrong but this clown has got us going in circles
for nothing.

The "photoshoped" picture was shot with a tilted lens. The guy seems genuine to me. Read his replies to comments.

OMG please stop already.. That shot was taken with a Tilt + Shift lens. Ignorance is bliss I suppose?

Why fault a man for being a successful photographer and business man.. Not everyone has to be genuine and in the "poor indie-filmmaker" mindset. All that first shot tells me is that this camera has KICK-ASS dynamic range. Look at the texture in the water, look at the hot lights on the couple. NO camcorder can pull off this type of DR, except for the big clunky RED ONE.

Kholi: are you sure you're just not upset that now there's a very low cost solution for anyone who wants to produce sub-4K work with creamy DOF? Red One operators / rental houses probably are gonna take a hit.. not necessarily from this cam, but in the immediate future to come. Let's face it, not everyone needs to work at 4K res..

The fact is there is a very small bunch of photographers and videographers that get to test and advice the big companies on all their new equipment and technology. They are beta testers, insiders with a high profiles in the business. If you are not high profile you better not apply because the big companies won't even look at you. That is the way the game is played. These are the pros whose work is used in all the new products advertisements and promotions.
Like it or not Mr. Laforet is one of these guys. Award winning photographer with an inside track. I am sure if he says he tested the camera he certainly did. The people in this forum who can't understand that there are leaders in the industry that speak for the rest of us better start getting used to it.

Can't wait til this Camera comes out... And the people ravin' about it produce something 30p that blows us all right into wanting to shoot 30p with dedicated video acquisition systems.

Just a quick question booggerg2. Why is their face and water focused but not on the same level but their body and odd parts blurred? Also that sharp light behind the girl?

The shot is no doubt great for what it's worth but where is the actual video if he got
a still from the video.

Thanks

Because he use a Tilt + Shift lens.
