3-D: The Future of All Films.

Some people had the same reaction to sound films.

I believe that is the point of the article. It may seem weird to us now, but may very well soon grow to become accepted and ..... expected.

Plus I'm sure you are thinking Spy KIds 3 or something gimmicky like that. We are talking about extending the feeling of reality by making normal scenes three dimensional. Closer to the ever playing illusion of reality we create.

Why don't they just get it over with, tap into our brains and play the movie as if we're actually THERE.

You joke, but it's only a matter of time.

People at the turn of the 20th century would have felt like they were 'there' watching an IMAX film.
Meanwhile they were entertaining themselves with Lumiere's train at the station, which seems completely antiquated and outdated to us now.

What do you think IMAX is going to look like as the world goes into the 22nd century?

Most probably a mixture of 3D, huge screens, circular dome like atmosphere with motion seating and computer controlled heat effects. I mean why not?

p.s. it's called a motion ride.

Ironically, the most realistic of all of these fake things is theater because it's actually happening live.

:Drogar-Thinking(DBG Couldn't be farther from the truth. Theater is the least realistic. If you want I can start listing the reasons.

I bet you ET feels more 'real' to people vs. any Shakespeare play on stage... and ET is about an alien and a boy! :)

If you want my opinion on the subject, literature, the 'theater of the mind' would be very ironic as the most 'realistic' to us... but that isn't really a visual medium. lol

Actually i'm waiting for smell o vision.
Imagine a movie like Basic Instinct on smellovision or Fatal Attraction.
Now Imagine that by the time smellovision comesout, Sharon Stone will probably be 80.
Then imagine the studios asking her to comein so they could record her scent during the whole day; doing all types of stuff and peoples .Okay I'm scaring myself.

Now that would smell !!!
or should I say sell :)

Yes, this has been something sci-people have been talking about for years, the jacking in to the brain itself. Entertainment that is felt. Something that puts the viewer in the driver's seat. Remember the Arnold film "Total Recall"?

3D glasses don't work for me for some reason. Sometimes the shot is long enough for my eyes to adjust but then just when I start to say Hey... I see it... poof... its gone. Happy feet was the last movie I tried to watch but my eyes wasn't having it.
