There are actually a few films shot on 35mm with miniscule budgets released nation wide.

Cabin Fever had a budget of around 1.1 million, was released in 2000 theaters

Saw had a budget of 900,000 and was released wide to a 20m opening weekend.

Napolean Dynamite was around 400k.

There are a few more, can't think of them at the moment.

I know these are the excections, but it can be done and has been done a few times.

I agree it can be done, I think it really really relys on being able to fool the audience into thinking that the film had a large budget. If you can achieve this and have a great script then I think your up for a good chance. But then again, has anyone seen Cabin Fever? Not the best film in the world I must say so when you mentioned it was released on that budget I was very surprised!

David.

Straight to DVD films in the UK

Straight to DVD films in the UK

I don't live in the US so you can educate me on this. If I went onto amazon or lovefilm or itunes ,and was looking to rent a movie and I found Corrado but had never heard of it before I'd think it was a rubbish film put straight on to DVD. If a film is not released in cinemas, even a small release that's what people will think. That's how it works in the UK.

If you look at boxofficemojo.com there are so many low budget films released in cinemas to gain some credibility and hopefully get some good reviews which will be used to push the DVD release.

Can Adam really expect over $500,000 for DVD and television rights?

I think he's goign to send it to a few film festivals which will gain him credibility.

He also promises not to be a film fest whore *cough* the edge of heaven *cough*

(love that film but it has been out for over a year and it just came out for dvd sale)

Adam, would you get that much in the advance on a points advance combo, also if that question is too loaded just forget I even asked...

P.S. I just got back to this thread, nice to see there is alot I missed!

I sure hope so! That's not very much for a good movie like Corrado.

I think DavidG mentioned product placement the other day. How fortuitous!

I received a phone call today from Volkswagen asking if I might consider putting one of their cars in Hangar 14!

I haven't called them back yet, but it sounds like a cool idea. Free car? Can we blow it up????:Drogar-Love(DBG):

damn...i wonder how they found out about you so soon?? your stuff must be really getting out there man.

or is it listed like in hollywood reporter or something where they can see the budget and decided to contact you, etc?

also i just saw something on the history channel about Hangar 14 (a documentary on aliens and the military) back in the day...is your film gonna be like sci fi or something?

A theatrical release, whether large or small, will greatly improve the chances of a large MG for DVD and TV because of all the marketing done with the release. The big DVD companies would rather risk their money on a film that already has an audience behind it from a theatrical, and also a film that a theatrical company took the time, effort, and $$ to put in theaters.

I'm not going to go back 56 pages. Did OP ever mention where he got the $$ to finance this? I'm curious to know for future reference how I can make 125 thou'.

if you can't be bothered to do your own research, how are you going to put together a $125K film production?

Who says I want to make a movie with it? Besides that, I've read alot of the posts, but never saw one that was that specific.

Thanks.

haha great about the VW, I think you should take the car for sure! Blow it up!...OR sell it after filming it, increasing money income!
