35mm adapter rig photos

hi ho heroo o/
The Firestore sits on a cutsom plate which is pined to the rods with a redrock micro mount. The sledge can go forward and backward.
I bought a shoulder mount where this bit was a part of it, I didnt like the shouldermount and found a cool use for the bit you see on the rig.
Ive fallen so much in love with the custom bit I even cut room for it in the peli :D

And yes to the debate. The camera is a small yet vital part of the rig, ofcourse we want a good image and i think i got that with my hv20. so i build the props around it and enhanced the value easy to use and so forth.
As one mention, the camera is easily exchanged with practically any camera and I would still have all the other bits that makes filming a bit more easy, even enhances footage in one way or another.

The shoulder mount I bought costed $100 so its a bit expencive to get that perhaps to get that plate. Ive just checked they have closed down the shop.

Which is a totaly other debate infact..the shop was located in india, they riped of the m2 design and a bunch of other film props and the quality was crap ive heard. However i naivly bought this shouldermount from them, i didnt know it was a dupe, if i had known before I would neer have bought it..however I did and it was crap :D the only usefull bit is taking care of my Firestore. cheers o/

side note : did a session today, went to edit the m2t files on the firestore and it wouldnt mount...
tried many computers, so ill be going to get it reped tomorrow.

Here is my rig. I practically have used all the scraps I got laying around my shop...I use it on both my JVC GY-HD100 and my Panasonic DVX 100A. The max amount of counterweight I need for my set up is 10lb...and it balances real nice...I can lift my hands from the handles and it stays on my shoulders...I have been crazy enough to walk around without having to grab the handles.

This is my rig. Took a while to put together, but I'm pretty excited to begin using it.

vcreative, how are you liking those blue grips that were talked about in that other thread? And that handle between the m2 and hvx looks interesting, I've never seen anything like that before, althrough I'd probably be scarred to lift the rig with just that.

And you shimmed your rods instead of the hvx to keep the hvx low?

ecking, blue handles are pretty fantastic. they are highly adjustable, like rotatable legos, but stronger. the top handle is custom, similar the the limited edition redrock handle, except it attaches at two points (the m2 and panasonic handle). This is much more robust since the weight/pressure is distributed over a much larger area and multiple points.

The rods are shimmed. Yes. basically used the entire RR shim kit to raise it, the M2 also has a 1/16 shim. Keeps the center of gravity low, making the rig more stable.

Hi , my setup:

- HVX201 (200A)
- Letus Ultimate
- Ebay Jumbo Mattebox, India
- Follow Focus and shulder mount from Redrockmicro
- adapted b/w viewfinder Sony VF Assy DXF801CE

For me the handheld use is important and it works.

Hi, no it works great. I'm a tall man of 6,2 feet, but also smaller people can use it, because you can turn down the front of the vf, which is powered by a standard Sony camcorder battery. At the other end of the vf there's a kind of magic box, in which the power is converted from 7,2V to 12V. It gets the video signal via FBAS out from the camcorder.

how do you like the RR shoulder mount?
I've heard the handles twist, so is that why you have it like that?
does the shoulder pad sit tight and is it comfortable??

Hi Ecking,

I was very lucky to get that viewfinder via Ebay, a very talented technician has made it. So I can't tell you very much about the techique inside the Magic Box, I'm very sorry.

All I can do is to give you a few information about some single parts:

- b/w viewfinder Sony VF Assy DXF801CE
- Sony battery mount is a SWIT S-7000F
- On/Off switcher: 316-973 from RS-components
- voltage stepup converter (7,2V to 12V) is from Teletest UK

Hope that helps you a bit. The only solution for a complete VF with battery mount seems to be the Canon FU1000, but it's very expensive.

Hi Willis,
no, the base plate comes together with the Jumbo mattebox from the indian Ebayer cine-city and looks similar to this:
