Why Why Why Did Apple have to go with AT&T ?????

I'm not sure if I'm the only one having problems with them, but the service sucksssss really bad. I don't think I've ever drop 10 calls at least a day. Not to mention the bill is ALWAYS $150.00 dollars more then what it's suppose to be.

We have a 2 iphone shared plan

1200 anytime
Free nights & Weekends after 9:00pm
unlimited text and data plan

RED FLAG RED FLAG
I knew it when we got the first bill for $365.00 that something wasn't right. They told us that we have 900 anytime mins (oh this is right before we upgraded are plan to the 1200 mins), but we were in a prorate stage in our bill cycling. Basically that means they gave us only 150 mins in that first 10 days of our bill, because we need to catch up to their system (yea never had this problem with verizon). So at 25 cents a min, x 2 phone, yea that adds up really fast !!!

Costumer service is really bad too!!! The reps. are sh*t heads and I feel like apple gave them gold and now they want to rip everyone off for it. Oh and it will take you about 10min - 30min of your precious mins they spare you to get them on the phone if you're lucky. Hmmm wondering why their lines are so BUSY....... ?

Why can't they just be fare ????

I'm not sure how they bill there clients, but I'm pissed off and I'm thinking about canceling my contract. It just really sucks because I've wanted the iPhone for the last 2 years and finally like I said I would wait for the 2 gen. phone to come out "the 3G". Man I love the phone, but hate hate AT&T. I just wish another company like Verizon would pick them up.

BTW Verizon has got to be one of the best phone companies I've ever been with. Bill is always correct, but the phones aren't so cool. Why couldn't they have said yes to the contract ???? Now stupid AT&T has the US on lock for 10 years with the iphone. :(

Anyone care to share their war stories with AT&T feel free.

Moved to OKC from Memphis a few months ago. When i was in Memphis, I had Verizon. Well, they don't have Verizon out here as of yet, so I went with AT&T. It's what my parents have, her parents have, etc. Since we have free mobile to mobile, it makes sense.

What doesn't make sense is why I can't talk on my phone in my apartment. I live in an AT&T black hole. The slider phone they sold me is a piece of carp (ugly fish), so I reverted back to my old school Motorola Razor from when I was with T-mobile. This phone works better, but I've never had so many dropped calls in my life. Not to mention when they sold my wife the Palm Treo (sp?), they told us that the internet wasn't a necessary purchase with it as long as you didn't surf. No problem, as my wife just wanted an organizer, so it worked out well. They didn't tell us that the phone automatically updated itself by signing on to the internet and downloading all of the updates. In less than a week, we had $30 in extra internet fees. That phone was promptly returned.

Verizon was great, except that lack of SIM card thing, and their phones are just a step up from bag phones.

Since you mentioned Verizon.... I've had nothing but trouble with Verizon...switched to AT&T and couldn't be happier. I've had the exact opposite experience you described?

Life is as weird as the phone service.....

I am a huge fan of AT&T. Only dropped a few calls from walking into dead zones, which were in basements and elsewhere. AT&T coverage is the best out of all the providers here in upstate NY. Verizon just doesn't have the coverage.

Well it sounds like maybe every state has a different problem. Maybe it's just florida, but AT&T sucks really bad here. They told me to update my phone and that's why, I laughed and said I'm using the current version. She didn't know what to say after that, so I'm going to look around. Would love to go with black berry, but really enjoy how all of my mac stuff is synced.

Well the next thing I was looking into is maybe going with another company and doing that unlock sim thing to the iphone. However I'm not really understanding how these guys do that, because how is another phone going to have the same internet package setup ?

Apple went with AT&T because AT&T was willing to bend to all kinds of conditions from Apple, and Steve Jobs is a control freak; Since AT&T was really behind in the wireless sweepstakes, they were negotiating from a weaker position; it was the opposite with Verizon who didn't feel like they needed to cater to Jobs. And so, AT&T got the deal. Anyhow, from what I understand, the exclusivity thing between AT&T and iPhone is only through 2010. Yeah, I also hate AT&T - very bad experiences every time I had them - whether phone service or ISP or whatever... just hate them. For cellphone I went with Verizon... no iPhone for me as long as they're chained to the hideous AT&T. I avoid AT&T like poison.

Yup, ATT was the 3RD company to listen to Apple when they came calling. Verizon and, (damn I'm not sure who the 2nd company was..) didn't like Apple's archaic conditions and restrictions.

I love the iphone, but will NOT get it unless it comes to Verizon.

A cool do-everything phone isn't as cool on a sucky network.

Interesting to read everyone's views. I currently have AT&T in North Florida. I don't travel as much as I used to, but did go to Orlando a couple weekends ago. My older Moto Razr would drop calls regularly, sounded awful in my apt, etc. I thought hard about getting the iPhone, but decided to forgo it for now.

Instead, when my Razr died, I bought a new Samsung Blackjack2. Clarity is light years ahead of my old phone, no dropped calls, no problems. My work phone (Treo 755) is on Sprint. Nothing but problems. I am quite pleased with my AT&T/Blackjack combo. Might work differently in your area, but works great here.

My service with AT&T in-store and otherwise has also been fine. I guess things are just different based on where you are.

The Blackberry Bold looks awesome.

Hey look, a REAL keyboard!

Wow must be a few of us...

Best phone service I've ever had was SBC... had no problems with them for two years... as soon as AT &T took over... billing mistakes all the time...

For example how can I make phone calls when you're sending me a new cell phone and I dropped off the busted one at one of your stores... so I have no phone... "sorry, sir. we'll fix that for you... would you like to spend more money with us. " : )

Ok so I thought I'd let everyone here the new!!!

Got the new 2.1 update, works like a new pair of shoes!!! Couldn't be happier, well except the bill. :(

I somehow must have gone over my mins., but don't have any clue how that happened. That was up until I decided to dig a little more. I noticed that I was being billed after 10pm, and said wait a min. !!! My plan starts at 9pm and it's suppose to be free after that until 6am or so....

I didn't know this, but if you call out or receive a call right before 9pm it will not switch over to free mins. automatically.

Basically if you receive a call right at 8:59pm, and talk to 12pm it will rack your mins. up.

Yea dirty phone companies !!!

Now all I need is someone to make a plugin for the iphone to work with flash.......

It's Verizon ONLY for me. **** the iPhone, it is not worth the bad service of a company that got kicked out of the BBB and had to change their name in a weak attempt at "starting over." I am sure there are good things about Cingu-err-I mean, AT&T but until those outweigh the bad AND trump what I like about Verizon (the only service that works well in this rural part of California) then I am not switching, iPhone or no iPhone.

Sorry, that was a bit off topic I think. :)
