The end of 35mm adapers and hv20s....

EDIT: the proper LX3 bit rate is aprox 2.9mb/sec which from memory is about the same as the JVC hd100 720p24

agreed

kholi is yours doing that?

It is. However, I just likened it to the light source, similar to rolling shutter artifacts with larger cameras. Although, this sort'a light shouldn't have an issue? I'm sure if you allowed the camera to Auto Adjust it would clean it up, at the expensive of it's own gain/ISO ramping.

I was thinking about the LX3 before D90 was announced. I needed something that I could carry everyday.

you seem not to get this thread's point, by far.
why keep talking about tiny tiny sensors? no one here wants another 1/1.63" with millions and millions of mp on it

to annoy you. and to demonstrate the the result of a shutter that is not locked in at 1/60. do you see the ripples scrolling thru the footage?

you don't really annoy anyone. it would be a something to get any reaction at all.

repeating the same sequence on and on just shows something else about the camera user.

Does anyone know of a piece of software that can fix the wobble? And/or other kinds of distortions?

there is no fix
do you think Red didn't try before? isn't it sad to sell 18k camera which does elvis moves?

if it would be you'd get cropping, just like with stabilization

there is no fix
That's not entirely true. Imagineer System makes Mokey, which - in theory at least - should be able to fix lens warps. I figure it could work on this kind of footage as well. I looked at a tutorial and it said something about needing parts the background to be static, so it probably wouldn't work on every kind of footage.

BTW, I don't see what RED has to do with it. I'm talking post software, not firmware fixes or whatever.

i did work with mokey, no can do
for a "preview" of a future fix stabilize the footage in 2 points, one up one down
it would fix the rolling but you get as big cropping as the rolling was
the syntheyes writer said he may have a fix when the helicopter shot scared hv20 users but he doesn't see any reason to do that in his software, you can't render anyway with that effect

red has to do with it, they have it too remeber? they'd love to find a fix, as would everybody else
but there is no global shutter yet on cmos, just whitepapers

I really hope Nikon is floatin' around somewhere readin' about this stuff.

And, I hope that Canon employs a more manual movie mode when they hit the market.

no way will Canon canabilize or devalue their pro video camera series.

Nikon stands to make far greater money with the soccer moms and dentists with too much cash expecting spectacular videos from the d90, than us geeks.
full manual mode from nikon will happen a year from now on a much more expensive camera: positioned inbetween the d90 & d800 price point. that way, nikon can empty the wallets of potential film makers.

the only thing that would excite us more is a manual mode on an fx camera body
approaching 1080 resolution (*drool*).. and the more expensive nikon's (d300 and up) have greater processing power to do reach that goal.

d90 is just to get people excited. ;) 14 more days before mine arrives..

Is this the only major thread discussing the D-movie feature and its flaws? Seem like all the other photo forums are jst takling about the photo side of things instead.
