What to do in London?

Well because of my dad's work i'll be going to london for about a month from the 24th of November to the 24th of December, and I'm not quite sure what to do there. Anyone have any suggestions? i was thinking of joining a weekend film course for a month or something, but i don't know where to start...I'm only 16. So anyone have any suggestions who's been there before?

Don't miss the National Gallery, British Museum, Tate Modern, and the Imperial War Museum. Some of the best museums in the world and all of them have eye-popping collections.

The Tower is really fascinating. Westminster Abbey, too.

I would also recommend doing some of the walking tours. They are usually time well spent.

I went to a restaurant in London called "Just Around the Corner" that was very interesting. It is a tiny, family-run place with a kind of modern european menu. Here's the interesting part: there are no prices. After your meal, they give you a list of what you had and you pay what you feel it was worth.

lol - It would be nice if you could pay in dollars. I was in London a couple of weeks ago, and the dollar/pound exchange rate was brutal.

Yeah, for touisty stuff:

The Tower for sure.
The Globe.
The National just about always had something good going on. And that little section of the bank of the Thames is cool, with a bunch of used book dealers, I've found magicians and jugglers, etc. under there. If you go for a show at the National, it's cool to go a couple hours early, get a coffee and just chill there.

Also, you should check out Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park. Every Sunday, the wackest of wack-jobs go there to speechify about everything from religion to politics. But everyone has a pretty good attitude and sense of humor and it's really a lot of fun.

One more touristy thing is Cafe in the Crypt at St. Martin in the Fields. Literally a cafe in the church crypt, where you can do your own wax rubbings. Fun way to take a break and grab a cup of joe when you're running around all day.

I was there about a month ago for a meeting and trade show. Stayed out at the Heathrow Ramada to be near the venue and paid 189 GBP ($360) a night for what could be called a "fair" room at best. No in room Internet access available, no WiFi to be found, just an old business center with some worn out computers.

London is as expensive as I ever recall it being right now and I have been going there for 15 years now.

One place that is really worth checking out is a 900+ year old pub called, The Royal Standard of England:

Well worth the journey to visit. Watch out for the "Owd Rodger" its great but I have seen more than a few succumb to its effects.

We missed our London-Paris flight, and had to book a last-minute night at the Heathrow Hilton. $425. Ouch...

Almost half my rent for a nights sleep! Unless of course that is the weekly rate.

Let's see... we checked in at about 7pm, and were gone by 6AM the next morning. So it cost about $40 an hour. Like I said, brutal! :crybaby:

Thanks for all the suggestions! Yeah i do know about prices being brutal in london... And i think the room i'll be staying in will be free of internet, etc as well. Sigh...

Yeh the rooms with internet would be closer to six hundred a night or part thereof but on the bright side you get clean sheets, towels and a two ounce bar of lilac smelling soap:)
